Similar issue

Scott,

I was traveling from DFW-EWR and I showed up early enough to take an earlier departure. The Airport Kiosk asked if I wanted to move to the earlier flight and if I wanted to be put on the upgrade standby list, clicked yes, no problem everything worked.

On my boarding pass, it stated that I had been placed on the upgrade list for First Class. I didn't expect to get upgraded since I was a last minute go show, but I decided to check where I was on the upgrade list on the pda site. Interestingly I wasn't listed.

I went to the PC and asked if I was on the list, which agent responded that I wasn't and she put me on. I didn't get the upgrade in the end, (which I didn't expect) but it definitely seems like a possible bug. The boarding pass said I was on the list, but RES clearly didn't. Fortunately the pda site allows some transparency into the process.

Just thought you should know.

Later this year, we're planning to remove the upgrade questions altogether from our kiosk and online check-in systems, and simply add eligible Elite members to the upgrade standby list automatically (unless you've requested otherwise via continental.com, over the phone or at the airport).

Currently, if there are upgrade (F inventory) seats available and you say yes you'd like to upgrade, you get upgraded at that time. After this change, will you automatically get upgraded during the checkin process if upgrade seats are available, or will there be no way to snag one of those prior to assignment by the GA?

Today I was booked on (and checked in for) a CoEx out of OKC-AUS. I'd already been EUA'd for the IAH-AUS leg, so clearly I had indicated an inclination toward upgrading.

I got to the airport ~4h early and went to the kiosk. I gladly accepted the earlier, all mainline CO flight change for $0... printed my new boarding passes that read "Added to Upgrad Standby List" (actually like that as it failed to print the "e"). When I checked PDA.CO.com for both my flights, however, I found I had not been added to the lists. It was easily taken care of at the gate, though I felt sheepish doing it considering that they were pretty slammed.

We're taking off in a couple minutes with two empties in F, btw, with all 6 of us up front having been upgraded (no purchased Fs).

Door closing... gotta go.

And so did you because your boss was happy and will remember it when it comes to give you more money. :D
