Yea I thought about that too. Yet DL took more for its Intl Free tkts Miles wise then CO does, and CO didnt raise theirs. NW takes more for its Intl Upgrades then CO did.

I guess its a wait and see, maybe & hopefully there will be some giving and not only the taking, when CO becomes a full partner

I also wonder what it means for the smaller routes in Europe that CO currently flies that can possibly be covered by the alliance (LH, BD, etc.)?

So unless CO decides to intermix United's elites with CO's elites in the upgrade pecking order (which I doubt), you should not see any difference in how upgrades work. And CO elites won't be able to upgrade on UA unless they buy upgrade instruments and they'll be at the bottom of the totem pole.
Also, using that relationship as a reference, UA and US have reciprocal lounge access only through the purchase of an add-on. And a same day ticket on that airline is required, even with the add-on.

The announcement mentions nothing about reciprocal upgrades. I am guessing that they will not do reciprocal upgrades, in which case I would likely still fly CO metal from DCA-IAH-LAX for example versus nonstop IAD-LAX on UA.

Please let this mean International F redemptions on LH, LX, NH, SQ, & TG. If so, freakin' sweet!

That would be awesome. Plus, United currently prevents its members from booking most available awards on LH, NH and TG, so availability for CO members should be better than it is for UA members.

Some of us are exceedingly happy to be transitioning.

On a somewhat unrelated note, I plan to keep BD Gold until they are taken over by the Luftwaffe. At that point, some reassessing of loyalty schemes will be in order.

I like this deal and hope it will be implemented soon. I will definitely fly CO's EWR-PEK flight in BusinessFirst instead of routing through IAD/ORD on UA.

Maybe, maybe not. CO would have to figure that all out.

I wonder how this will affect presidents club access.
Under current policy in *A all *Gold members except US and UA have access to UA's RCC for domestic and international itineraries.

I imagine it will be similar to the present US/UA set-up. No access by those members to their own or each others' clubs as *G, but access for all the Non-U.S. *G's
