Is CO flying a smaller plane to UIO?
Last August I went to UIO and was upgraded from an H fare both ways into first class. This summer I am hoping for the same luck but it seems that the plane (737-700) is smaller than the one from last year. There are only 12 seats in first class; it seemed that there were more last August.
Can anyone who flies this route regularly verify this? Is CO now using a smaller jet IAH-UIO? Thank you!

I think it was downgraded from a 737-800 (FC: 14/16/20).

Last summer Houston-Quito was being operated (at least some of the time) by the 757-200.

Flew this route in March and it was on a 737-700.
Don't despair though, they are trying to figure out a way to get this 5+ hour flight onto an ERJ.
The schedule is awful as well. Arrive UIO very late, depart 6 am or so.

OK, so then they have downsized the plane. So much for upgrades. Yes, the flight times are awful. You arrive at almost midnight and then have to leave your hotel at something like 4:00 am. It's awful, but it could be worse: At least CO flies direct to UIO; with DL you have to stop in Guayaquil first.

For the high summer season 2 years ago CO was flying the 752, which was great. Unfortunately, in my 20+ trips between UIO and IAH since then, I've only flown on the 73G (I don't think it's ever been a 737-800, but I could be wrong). That said, as either Gold or Platinum, I have only missed out on the EUA just once on all those trips, and have even brought folks up on a companion upgrade maybe 4 or 5 times. I've even flown with empty seats up front, so chances of getting a bump up are pretty good.
