Options on a cancelation / change

Last week, I some how made a mistake and booked a FLL-SNA via IAH on June 21. It was SUPPOSED to be June 22.

It appears the change fee is 150 ugh. And the Fare difference is 300, GAG.

So in reality I will cancel this and suffer a 150 change fee and get one year to use 50 bucks, which does very little for me.

Since I am out of the 24 hr window, what other alternatives do I have?

You could just book a new ticket at the new fare price and not cancel, thereby costing yourself even more money. Or is that not what you were hoping for?? ;)

You can call and beg, but when you're outside the 24-hour window your options are pretty limited. I would not expect much leniency on this.

First, the change fee is $100, since you booked before they upped it to $150. Check your original receipt for details, and don't let an ignorant agent tell you otherwise.

Second, you could hope for a CO schedule change rendering the itinerary unworkable. However, FLL-IAH and IAH-SNA are fairly common flights, and I doubt you'd find a significant enough schedule change.

If you don't intend on flying CO for your trip, you don't have to cancel right away -- you can wait until it gets closer to see if you get a schedule change.

Well I will just "wait" and cancel and switch to a B6 flight. I booked on april 25, when did it go up?

The alternatives are the 22nd at 6am for just the change fare, or change fee and 100-200 more for the later sunday itens. How much of a sched change has to occur to get it refunded (or are they just issuing a credit)?

B6 is $200 non stop, and i will just keep my flight credit. Why are change fees 150 now? gross!

The airfare you paid on this itinerary totals: 166.51 USD
The taxes you paid on this itinerary total: 28.99 USD
Fare Rules: Additional charges may apply for changes in addition to any fare rules listed.
NONREF/0VALUAFTDPT/CHGFEE
Cancel reservations before the scheduled departure time or TICKET HAS NO VALUE.

I like how the change fee is 16 less than the airfare.

So here is what I have done, I have booked the jetblue airfare for 199.50 - 20 Paypal promo.

If I can get the continental canceled for a refund great, if I can get the continental changed by 1 day for just $150 great, then I will pay the Jet Blue cancel fee which is $40!

I am not so thrilled with this huge fee, it costs them nothing to cancel, and if it is within 1 hour I can understand they wish to recoup something but 2 months and they can't help me out!

I do know it is my fault and I don't disagree with a penalty, just when the fare = the change fee something is the matter.

I think you've only two choices: eat the fee or spend an extra day in orange county. There's a lot to be said for Orange County--since I live in LA County, I am going to say them! If I were you--and I had the time--I'd just find a reasonably priced hotel in OC or near the coast and enjoy the extra day in sunny SoCal!

Haha, thats the thing. I live in Orange County (SNA, Irvine)
I booked B6 outbound and Continental back cause of the schedule, but i didnt see i was booking sat not sun.

I am flying back from a family reunion, I didn't want to leave Saturday since that is the reunion banquet.

I still may take the continental flight sat, if I am not having any fun :)
(One can fly standby on a LATER sat flight) right?

I have 2 tickets booked, Ill cancel which ever one I don't take.
