IAH PC access in E with no PC membership?
A co-worker and I were talking about an upcoming flight I have to PER and I mentioned to him that I would be able to enter the PC since I am CO Plat and am traveling on an international ticket.
He turned and looked at me with a puzzled look and said he always gets in. He has an expired Silver card at that (the blue one). I asked him if he was sure, and he said yes. He does not travel as much as I do, so I asked him to describe the PC to make sure... and yes, it is the PC in E. He said every time he goes skiing, or to visit his wife's family out of the country, he said he goes up to the counter, flashes his card and get his wife, and his brother and sister in laws in. Not just recently, but the last two years that he recalls, and as recently as February. Have I been missing out! Maybe I don't understand the rules, it's my first time being a CO Plat and I think the rules are PC access only on international tickets. ?? In fact, I am not even sure I get PC access with reward tickets on Qantas. :( Do the agents selectively choose which customers to verify? Maybe my mistake is always handing them my ticket?! Anyway, I thought it was funny. My friend sure gets his money's worth in drinks before his flights. ;) |

My understanding is the same as your understanding, thus if you are missing out something, I'm missing ou somthing, too. The only exception I can think of, out of your description, is if he's flying always on BusinessFirst - then he's entitled to access, but I assume you know that, too... |
Only coach! :D

This conversation didn't take place on Tuesday, did it? (4-1-08):D

They swipe the P Club cards at the entrance to P Clubs, so it cannot be true unless he always enters when there is a line at the check-in desk and the agents just wave him through.

Not possible, but I'll give it a try the next time i'm in IAH
I have never been in that club without providing my Continental President's Club card, which they always swipe and a valid form of ID, which they still don't believe is really me.
I'll give it a try the next time I'm in IAH, as I have a bunch of old expired elite cards that I could use. - CWipes |
Does he happen to have an AMEX Plat as well?

I assume that if you are flying to PER - you are traveling on Qantas. Qantas is not SkyTeam and as such CO Plat do not get in the PC if flying a non-Skyteam airline be it coach or business class.
Even if you were traveling in BC or FC on QF and also flying FC on CO to LAX, you should still not get in the PC based on your flight schedule - as CO domestic F does not qualify and QF is not SkyTeam regardless of class of service. CO does not code share with QF. Now if you were traveling CO in coach and CO Plat or BF to HNL-GUM-CNS - then buying your own ticket on QF to PER, then you would get in. I assume you mean PER (Perth, Australia). |

Mine is the new Plat card. He has admitted that he has no status at this time, and he just flew in February with no status. BTW, I did ask my friend several times if he was sure he just flashed his old card, and he said yes. I told him that he should not have been allowed in, but he says he was. In any event, we both laughed, and he was as surprised as I was. I probably jinxed him, he's probably going to think twice next time. Regards |

Everytime I go through, and I know I am allowed enterance, I am always asked for my tickets too; this is why it is a mystery to me how he said he has been granted access several times. I am going to point him to this thread tomorrow.... see if he changes his tune! :D |
