no more comp pclub for intl plats

I was denied entry this am to the club in iah ... Agent said I expired , so if the program still exists they are leaving us behind

cova Mar 5, 2008 5:15 am

When you say expired - you likely mean the time limit for the day of travel expired? I assume you flew in on an international SkyTeam flight the day before and you are connecting in IAH to go home. In which case it would not be the same day of travel.

tourismspecialist Mar 5, 2008 5:15 am

I'm confused - you were denied entry since your status as Platinum had expired, or because Plats on international travel no longer have access to the PC? Checking the elite benefits section for Sky Team indicates that this benefit still stands. Please provide more information.

Of course you expired. You're entropy! :D

OPFlyer Mar 5, 2008 5:44 am

I think the agent was just mistaken.

pbarnette Mar 5, 2008 6:18 am

Actually, what I think he was saying is that his PC membership expired. In the past, as an unpublished benefit, international-based Plats (and Golds) received a full PC membership. The wife received one last year with her yearly elite package. Since she dropped to Silver this year, I can't tell you whether they did the same this year.

Assuming that he is still Plat and still international, then this might imply that this perk no longer exists.

I'm internationally based, I've been a Plat (comped from TACA) in 05 and 06, Gold last year, and Plat for this year, and have never been offered a full PC membership. Guess I need to make some phone calls to see if this is still on!

Perhaps it is/was geographically restricted?

craz Mar 5, 2008 8:23 am

I imagine that the OP has a TLV address as their 1P address and when I inquired last yr when I moved the CEOs address from his US to his Israeli I was told that the free PC membership is done only once ayr. And that it wasnt going to be done any longer after '07. I guess they knew what they were talking about.

As so many told me on the other thread. whats $300 for someone who is spending so much flying around anyway;)

channa Mar 5, 2008 8:58 am

Presumably if you're based in Europe or TLV, and are Plat, and flying CO, you're on an int'l ticket.

I suppose that this would only be an issue if you were on a stopover domestically. Otherwise ST E+ benefits would kick in, and you'd have ST lounge access anyway.

I bet the "Free PC" rule was a holdover from back when CO didn't have a true alliance.

J.Edward Mar 5, 2008 9:45 am

entropy are you sure they discontinued the program?

I just checked with a, er, friend, who lives in the greater London area and he was renewed.

benolaa Mar 5, 2008 9:47 am

Ah the fun of figuring out non-marketed programs and to make it worse COInsider is out until the 10th. Let the rumos go wild!!

actually he doesn't expire, he is continously increasing (in a closed system of course)

amislove Mar 5, 2008 9:49 am

I'm a Germany-based Plat, and I can confirm that my complimentary PClub membership was renewed for 2008 (haven't received the card yet, though). You can check your expiration date online by going to "Apply/Renew Online" under "President's Club" at co.com.

rkkwan Mar 5, 2008 9:55 am

Some "insider" from CO found out that entropy spends more time in the US than Israel. ;)

I'm a new Gold and based in Ireland and I checked the above and I seem to have PC membership that expires Feb 28, 2009. No card in the post yet...

Irish based Plat here and same status when I check the link. No card yet either.

I talked to the PC service center and they said I qualify for it but for some reason it didn't adjust my account. So I have to wait for them to fix it. IN the mean time, the agents at IAH told me to either purchase a day pass, show a plat AX or take a hike.,

I did get to fly on #416, the newest 739ER, which was rather nice, except the power isn't active. And we had a rather lackadaisical crew: no preflight, an hour into the flight before we go the drink/nuts/cold plate all at once.

saintd Mar 6, 2008 11:40 am

entropy , i thought i saw you leaving the C south pc yesterday afternoon in a hurry. i thought you were late for boarding, i didn't realize you had been "booted". we could have easily guested you. so sorry:(

ding!
from PCSC:
New Requirement that you must have a flight originating in TLV....

OK, thanks for telling me after the fact, but I guess that's what happens with an unpublished program. Renewed today!

EWR ATC Hold Mar 12, 2008 4:29 pm

I was a U.S. based platinum in 2007, re-qualified mid year and then moved to London in August (and changed my OnePass address at that time). I was not a President's Club member, but received the card today with a letter saying it was a perk for U.K. based plat's. It's valid through 2/2009. So . . . I guess they are still doing this.

perezoso Mar 12, 2008 10:04 pm

Hmm.... somebody is hoping that this will apply to him (and the Gold Mrs.) when he moves to BOG in a couple of months....

Any Latin America-based plat with more info?

Gosh, then nobody would have to trip over me and my laptop outside of the PC...

I'm based in UIO, and have been Plat/Gold/Plat over the past several years. Never knew about this benefit, until I saw this thread (making me another thankful member of FT!). I called the OPSC the other day, and they told me that YES, I have a complimentary membership to the PC, but my card had never been sent. Hopefully it's in the mail.
