Time to clear Customs and make domestic flight...

If I am arriving on a 4:45 am from Tel Aviv into EWR on a Sat , is there anyway I could catch a 5:30 am flight from EWR-IAH?

I'm pretty sure that it isn't a legal connection. Moreover, flights this time of year tend to run a little long on the westbounds due to the winds. Today's was only 10 minutes late, but that would likely be enough to kill it for you. Standby is an option if you manage to make it to the gate, but I wouldn't book the ticket that way. Checked luggage would make it an almost certain impossibility.

Made such a connection yesterday, with no checked luggage though. Really depends mostly on how quick you can clear customs and how terrible the security lines are :/

I got lucky.

Keep in mind many domestics out of EWR are delayed, which might work in your favor.

There are almost never departure delays at EWR at 5:30am.

I would never book the connection asked about above.

haha true, I didn't read the post closely enough... didn't see the 5:30am.

Anyway, I would not book that connection. It can be done if all goes well, but at EWR all almost never goes well.

I do the TLV-EWR flight all the time. About 75% of the time I am at the President's Club right before they open at 5am. But I book it off the plane, never check any luggage, and am an American citizen.

That and if you hit even the slightest delay, which happened on my last flight, you won't clear security until after the 5:30am flight has departed.

If you have only carry-on, then tight, but maybe. If you check a bag, no way you can re-check it before the deadline. Not a chance.
