You guys were right about your guesses (are you psychics???) !!!

I fly international almost a 100% of the time. That's why I have UA Mileage Plus.

Yes, I'm looking for a place to dump the mileage. I'm not looking for a status. I'm not sure when I'd fly Continental Airlines again. So seems like I should go for Alaska air?

yes, miles don't expire and you can cover both Skyteam and OneWorld with the number

I have consolidated myself down to two numbers since I stopped flying CO regularly, UA (*A) and AS (everyone else). (and hopefully CO/UA will happen so I can actually use my 700K or so CO miles).

I might also add that having tried to or redemed miles for international C or F flights on most programs (UA, CO, AA, AS, DL) I've found that AS has always been the most accomidating about partner awards.

Update on this:

Mileage Plan Policy Change
Mileage Plan Account Inactivity Policy

In an effort to reduce costs while minimizing the impact to our customers, we will be changing our Mileage Plan account inactivity policy. Currently if an account has no activity for 3 years it becomes inactive.

Effective April 1, 2008, accounts with no mileage activity for the previous 2 years will become inactive and the miles will be removed from the account. Any mileage earning or award redemption activity on your account will keep it active. This includes Alaska Airlines, Horizon Air and partner flight credit or mileage earned with any of our other partners including the Alaska Airlines credit and debit cards, and our large selection of hotel, car rental and specialty partners.

There is more information on the webpage including a FAQ section. It is unfortunate, but understandable action with all that is occurring in the industry. There are however many ways of keeping the AS account active.

A minor point, but speak for yourself. I consider myself a very well informed flyer and would never 'waste' my hard earned miles for a first class ticket to anywhere. I'd rather go twice, or take someone along with me than spend those same miles to be a little more comfortable. But that's just me; obviously many others feel the way you do.
