Very Good Standard Awards Avail to LHR

I was poking around on the website last night trying to find standard coach seats SEA-XXX-LGW in May... very slim pickings... then it occurred to me to search LHR, and I found a long list of transat flights avail for 25k each way. It was a weird, unaccustomed thrill to see all those blue buttons appear under the "Standard" column... I got all the seats I wanted for a long weekend in mid-May, SEA-IAH-LHR-EWR-SEA, for 50k RT, and I think there must still be plenty out there, so go for it. Maybe people just don't think to try LHR yet. Cheers.

NW will be flying SEA-LHR nonstop. Not sure when it starts, but it's certainly out there.

Also check VS for LHR.

NW service SEA-LHR starts June 15 or so... too late for my May needs. NW were pre-selling some coach seats @ $666 to attract attention, but those appear gone now and the summer tariff starts well over $1,000.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

Don't forget that DL is offering LHR service as well starting this spring. There is going to be a ton of inventory that didn't previously exist, so standard awards should be reasonably easy to score. I got a pair of LHR-NYC as part of a multi-city journey and had a choice of VS, DL and CO, all on the day I wanted (or the next day) and at a variety of departure times. to more inventory, though the other shoe will drop eventually, I'm sure, once the airlines all figure out the yields on these routes with the additional competition.

S.

UK air passenger duty on LHR departures: $79 / ticket. Total fees: $139 / ticket. Ouch.

Taxes and fees are more than $300 for J class reward tickets. to Gordon Brown's hefty air transport taxes.

How is this relevant? Taxes vary by country. The U.K. tends to be high. So what?

the UK has obnoxiously high departure taxes. ITs a real crock.

Sadly, the wedding we're off to is in Westminster Abbey, not at the Taj Mahal.

I recently was searching for award tickets to Europe for the summer and was really amazed when I was able to get 4 Y tickets on EWR-LHR all for the standard award level, and on the exact dates I wanted!

Now the return was another story. Anybody have luck finding standard award availability for LHR-US? I only had 2 days I could look at, but didn't see anything available.

US-based carriers don't charge the fuel surcharges on reward tickets that I am aware of. And if you are leaving LON within 24 hours you don't have to pay the extortion to get out. What program are you booking with that has these fees??
