There may or may not be a real bet on the next 6 months, but I will throw the challenge down...

The deal is 6 "worthwhile" developments in the next 6 months. I've seen 1 of them and I concede defeat on it (and everyone will see the new URL next Monday, feb 4). Still, I have 6 months that says that CO Insider can't deliver the other 5 developments for co.com and pda.co.com.

I wish him the best of luck, and I hope the other five come through, but I've bet against. July 27 is the answer...

What say the rest of you?

**************************************************
Here are the results as they are announced:
  1. LiveTV - $6 for Y, free for F. To be installed on all 73G/738/739/738ER/753s. Also includes free "Internet" access to Yahoo Mobile and BlackBerry services (only if you have a WiFi BB). Access also recently added for most major webmail services as well as corporate Exchange systems.
  2. GIDS on PDAs - This is the update to the PDA site that provides more or less complete transparency of the upgrade process and flight status, including status of your inbound aircraft. I love this one. I may give CO 2 points for this to make up for the half credit I think they deserve for the LiveTV plans
  3. No more expiring wait list for upgrades. The wait list will now be available up to the time of departure.
  4. Million Miler program - A very impressive MM program was announced, including matching benefits for the spouse/significant other of the qualifying passenger. And the benefit is "real" elite status, not watered down. This is a great benefit for CO FFers.
  5. New BusinessFirst Seats - Lie flat seats on all the 777s, 787s and 752s. No word on the 767s yet. The seats look pretty nice overall.
  6. A three-part offering
    • Corona Extra instead of Fosters, plus plenty of extra limes
    • Fixing the upgrade processing so folks on the waitlist don't get bypassed by 24- and 3-hour EUAs
    • A customer experience survey per flight that is tied into their back-end systems to drive real results

Am I obtuse?

Are the "developments" you're looking for only on the web site or within the company in general?

I really hope that one of the high priority issues is to fix the major problems that seem to dog the past developments.

A few examples are:
- Booking issues with the 5% Discount for the cobranded Chase Card and Veterans Advantage.
- EUA issues on Auto Check-in.
- Screwed up Trip Alert and Flight Status Notifications.

A nice addition that I’m sure isn’t on the ‘list of 6’ would be an internal database that was available to all Agents which identified booking problems and how to handle them. The Line numbers could be identified on this forum so that we could easily communicate with the agent when dealing with the problem. This isn’t much different than making us aware of GG Checkpoint Line 53 and Line 55 for non-flying PC Access.

I realize that there is great pressure on IT from marketing and the need to stay competitive but if you can't put a working product up and /or can't address the problems after it's up, you're better off waiting to do it right.

While I know I'm new to this forum ,IT is my livlehood. I've been a OP since 1983 so I've seen a lot of evolution.

How about a pda.continental.com that actually works? I have never been able to do OLCI from my blackberry, and I rarely can view itineraries. I always get error messages.

I've never had issues with OLCI but other than that, pda.continental.com is pretty non-functional. None of my tickets can be viewed, none of my account balance info either.

It depends on the meaning of "worthwhile" as that is somewhat of a subjective word. Some would consider being able to buy tickets on your PDA "worthwhile" while others would think cleaning up the code on the CO.com website is "worthwhile".

Me, I'll say they finish three worthwhile developments in the timeframe allotted.

I and a few others saw the one pda update release yesterday during the tours, but I was asked to let Scott announce it, so I am. I have no idea what the other 5 are, but Scott says he has them in his pocket. I don't know if everyone will find them useful or not, but I'm entertained by the idea that it might actually happen.

I'd say Scott will deliver the worthwhile developments. Whether the developments will be fully functional, as in fully debugged, is another matter.

Hi sbm12, we're on. Couple clarifications, though (and remember, we had witnesses). First, our 6-in-6 bet referred to any worthwhile developments related to the Continental customer experience, not just our website. Second, the Jul. 27th deadline was the deadline for formal announcements, not the actual deliverables (I just can't collect on the bet until all 6 are implemented).

I was so excited about the first one and it's website related, so that was a goof in my post there.

I agree, would love to be able to use pda.continental.com myself, but my Berry 8700c running on AT&T can't view the site either. Keeps telling me that there is an error.

Since we are only talking announcements, then my money is on Scott. I place the over/under on the last of the 6 being fully implemented at 2/15/2009. Any takers?
