Busted! Yanked out of First!

Funny story...

The other day I was rebooking a flight due to a weather issue, and when doing so, my X fare mysteriously turned into a Y fare. So like any other FT'er, I went into CO's website and Y-upped myself to AU. Printed my boarding pass for 2E...and went to sleep. All was well with the world.

The next morning I got up and thought...hmm...I better look at my seating assingment online. Good thing I did, because they caught me. And jammed me into the B seat on the last row of the plane right by the lav!

I called the elite number to "inquire" as to why I was removed from first...and they instantly knew. I got the "Sir, you were not on an upgradable fare" response.

Ok, fair is fair, I'll fly in Y....that's what I paid for. But I really messed myself up because I was in an exit row seat before I "Y-upped" and now I'm in the back of the plane on a full flight.

So I get to the airport, ready to smell the lav for 3 hours....and oh, thank god...got a battlefield...for you guessed it....2E!!! haha.... tooo funny :cool::p

You probably could either have asked, or went online and changed the B seat rear to a better Y seat without causing yourself more embarassment . . .

The OP said it was a full flight! Where does he change to?

And it makes it a better story if he was about to sit in the very last row in Y.

I really think whoever switched me out of AU was trying to teach me a lesson!

I've Y-up'd this way..albeit only once. GAs had no issues checking me in.. and of course it was about an hour to the flight..

edit: ..and it was on stand-by. :)

Actually, it would have made an even better story if he was literally yanked out of his seat in FC.

Good story! (And I'm glad they caught you, FWIW, as a customer who buys only Y class or above.)
