NOT a reasonable response. I have experienced this phenomenon known as "Fa's acting childish" and it is annoying. It's called the "DIVA Syndrome."

I was fortunate enough to fly all the way to Paris in 1L with the "DIVA" FA slamming the carts as if they were coming through the bulkhead in front of me and talking loudly about their personal "business" for 8 freakin hours.

Very unprofessional !!!!

But who am I to question flight crew, It may make me a "security risk."

And we have experienced the "DIVA" passenger, etc. We are friends on here, not enemies. Let's shoot for unity on here, FAs and FFs alike.

That being said, I don't see what is unreasonable about making a simple statement about earplugs? It's true, earplugs are designed for a purpose and serve that purpose well. I do agree with SBM that it would be a great thing to add on all CO flights in all classes (currently, they are only available in BF amenity kits).

And seriously, not all FAs are on a power-trip. I have only filed a report once with the FAA, and it was for a passenger smoking and we have very strict procedures to follow with that. I have passengers disagree with me all the time and I don't file a report or have police meet the plane. I simply state that it's not my rule, but rather a federal regulation, and if no other reason it's there for the safety of themselves and passengers around them.

To the last part of your post, I hope you were being sarcastic. As I stated in my previous post, we do not bite and all you need to do is bring it to our attention. :) If you were not being sarcastic, we would most likely lose our job for making a false claim of a "security risk". So either way you would win by talking to us. You would either have the noise quieted down, or you would have someone who probably shouldn't be flying in the 1st place "removed from the equation". This is obviously something that happens quite often from what everyone has been saying here, and I beg you that next time it happens simply bring it to the F/A's attention. If they give you a hard time let me know, I'll personally drop them a note. ;)^

What would my protest get me? A caddy look, Visine in my next drink?

I know the FA psyche more than you realize. So do you.

MOST are professional to a fault, but sometimes the excellent are drowned out by the "DIVA's."

Whoa buddy, you missed the point of my post. I said we are all friends here, so please, let's act like it. I don't understand why you all of a sudden jump in and are filled with animosity?

I find this as unacceptable as you.

I wouldn't say that the 29:37 minute flight (according to one of the FAs who told the other that this meant "no drink service, not even in first" while giving an arm pump and thumbs up) was unpleasant. The weather was nice and the ride was smooth.

I certainly wasn't pissed off, either. Since I was in 1E, I didn't mind at all opening the coat closet and handing out the six or seven jackets once we were at the gate and the door was opened. A thank you for my help from the FAs would have been nice, but they were too busy continuing their chat in the galley to notice that there were passengers trying to deplane.

As has been mentioned in the thread, FAs are on board primarily for passenger safety. I would assume that would mean there would be an awareness on the part of the FAs that there were indeed passengers on board. These two were never rude. They just too busy having a loud discussion to realize they were supposedly "working the flight." Fortunately there were no safety issues since I think they were under the impression that they were on a plane that was just being ferried to Austin.

Was I offended by the FAs. No, they just didn't strike me as being very professional, certainly compared to most other CO, or WN, FAs.

I agree that that was very unprofessional service, and as stated before, is a rarity. I have done several IAH-AUS-IAH runs and have never flown with anyone who had a problem providing standard service. At times, due to weather we do sometimes offer just water/juice in main cabin, but first class always gets a full choice of beverages, as well as peanutes/pretzels if catered, when I fly. I hope your future experiences are better!

Honest question, not being sarcastic. Address my experience on the 10pm flight to Paris, where the nice young gentleman FA from Miami squaked ALL night and rammed endless carts into the bulkhead. You fail to address that issue. Defend that. I know he was from Miami and all about his life because he talked about it ALL NIGHT, and not in a whisper.

Oh yes, the snoring passenger in 1D was also annoying, LOL. So I am equally critical. He should stay awake if he is a snorer. :D

Going by your user name, I would assume that you work in the industry. Also taking the jaded part of your user name, are you sure you are not one of those diva's? If I am mistaken, then I apologize. However any crew that I have flown with would never treat a passenger with such blatant rudeness.

Oh, I am not defending him at all, friend! I am just saying we FORTUNATELY are not all like that, it's actually a rarity to have someone THAT annoying (granted, most of us at one time or another can be too loud, again, we apologize! :)), and it definitely sucks that you had him on your flight. And your comment about snoring passengers is TOO true, it never gets old being in the galley and hearing snoring over our loud conversations :)

We are not being defensive (or going to defend another F/A who was in the wrong, although I would bet not on purpose), we are giving you a solution to the problem. This coming from F/A's that are probably guilty of being loud. Bring it to their attention next time, you might be pleasantly surprised!!

My dear friend, trust me it happened. If you choose to live in such a Pollyanna world so be it. I cannot compete with "rose colored glasses."

It happened, attractive young latin male who was obviously friends with the other Miami commuting FA serving our side of the aircraft. I know so much about them because how could I help not, they were so loud!!! When earplugs fail to drown out the "galley talk" then it is to loud.

To even things out here, the flight back from Amsterdam was flawless and staffed by Fa's that took great pride in their work. Which is why I love Continental. I do not say that in jest.

But please do not be naive.

Do not be so sure of my vocation.

Uncle, you are correct, I know that MOST and the vast majority are NOT like that. But dont be so quick to "circle the wagons."

Again, Continental is typically exceptional.

Did you write a letter to the company, since you did not want to confront the F/A in person? This is another way of handling the situation, however it does not help on that flight. Maybe I am naive, but I believe that 99% of the crews are great people. Do we have bad apples, yes. Does every large group of people though, yes. It is all about communication!
