Non-stop IAH - SCL

I was searching for that route couple month ago and I almost sure saw Continental non-stop between Houston and Santiago, Chile. But it seems to dissapear now. Was it canceled or my memory faded out and there wasnt ever such a flight?

Never such a flight, at least not for a while.

ATL-SCL is the best option available on SkyTeam.

Yes, as I understand, SCL did exist at one point, years ago. I think some combination of competition against Lan and other performance issues led to its demise. The closest CO serves is EZE.

Skyteam IAH options to SCL involve DL via ATL (with very good reviews from my parents) and CM via PTY (I personally took the PTY route). AM also offers service, but the others usually have better fares and schedule options.
Another probably better option for the IAH bound would be AA's DFW service.

I forgot about Copa. The flights on Copa are EUA-able, so that may be more compelling than sitting in Y on DL. Of course, if you can buy J, DL is a much better seat than the CM option.

Must be thinking IAH-SLC

Such a beast exists, even today ;)

I too flew IAH-PTY-SCL, but did it as an open jaws just before the price went up to 50K miles. AF SCL-EZE to close the jaw, and Aerolíneas Argentinas to El Fin del Mundo (USH) a few years back :)

Can you point me to flight number? I do not see it in co.com or sidestep.
The best option is Copa via PTY (~1800), Delta way more expensive (~2200), flying December 21 - Jan 2, not the cheapest dates at all :(
Infact, I'm seriously considering flying to EZE, and try domestics to Santyago from there. Is it a good option?

It's not the SCL end that's causing the problem. It's the IAH end.

A RT is $1,000 out of MIA.

I think it's the same problem as when you first thought you saw it: SLC, while you want SCL

I've found great fares to expensive places in the past by transposing letters  At least I didn't buy it like the English couple who ended up in Sydney, Nova Scotia instead of Australia :p Story here

As for real advice, if you have time, it's actually a pretty short flight from EZE to SCL with a fantastic view of Andes just after taking off from SCL. When I flew it it was well under $200 a/i o/w, and not much more for r/t. If it's more now (probably is with high fuel costs), there are buses that take longer, but with a longer view of snowcapped Andes.

I think about 10-12 years ago, there was an article in the SL tribune about how the most common lost luggage mistake (beyond bags that were just mishandled/left at a destination) involving SLC was that sometimes bags got sent to SCL.

My parents are there and recently flew DL SLC-SCL and back...probably one of the more interesting/humorous tickets out there.

AGREE!
I paid under $700 RT on CM for JFK-PTY-SCL in June.

I was in San Jose, CA (SJC) and when the inbound came, the redcoat had to deal with a customer who was supposed to have boarded a flight to San Jose, CR (SJO). Though Costa Rica's popularity, I bet more people fly SJC-SJD (San Jose del Cabo, MX) than SJC-SJO.

Every time I see a deal posted for SJC, I have to double take and remind myself that it isn't SJO. No complaints about SJC, but I'd love to get back to SJO again...

And I can see SJC and SJO because a little bit of sloppy handwriting could cause it...But for more interesting pairs...what about those who fly SJC-SJT? (That's San Angelo, TX....and the only reason I know that is because I dated a girl from there.)

I was looking for MIA before. Unfortunately, it's adds at least another stop (and more stops at Xmas time in US I rather avoid), plus ~350 for MIA-IAH plus there is no direct flight from MIA to IAH at night, so I'm looking for sleepover. Steel cheaper thought. Oh, and I'm not getting miles for CO which I still need this year.

Thank you. Yeah, I may misstyped SCL :) I'll look for EZE-SCL closer. It sounds like a good alternative!
