Peter Max and the power plugs?

Last Sunday I flew on Peter Max from LGW back to IAH in BF. I noted that the EmPower outlet at the front of the seat was 15V DC only. I asked the crew about this; they told me that I needed an inverter to use the outlet with my laptop power brick. But I didn't have one and neither did they. All seats in BF were configured the same. So, no work was possible after laptop battery death which of course now only takes 90mins with my ancient setup.

I was surprised to have this problem onboard. I feel almost certain that I've ridden other CO 772 ships in BF that have regular outlets (maybe 019?).

The new ships and the ones that have undergone the new BF upgrade will have the standard outlets. All others will be EmPower.

The 752s and some 738s also have standard outlets.

The 767s use EmPower.

Ships 019 and 020 are the new AVOD/"normal" power-enabled planes. Ships 1-18 are the old EmPower style plugs. All of them are being converted but it'll be a while.

CO has finished the conversion of the 752 fleet to all standard plugs and is now going back and adding the power for the back half of the plane (rows 17+) that doesn't currently have it. Power is also being added for the 73G, 738, 739, 733 and 753s.

772 Ship #010 has been converted. So, the number stands at 3 out of 20.

ship? why is a plane called a ship? i hope it doesn't end up in water.

does that stand for ship(ment) as in shipment number?

Pretty soon the peter max plane will no longer be in the fleet. Cal does not want to spend the money to repaint the plane.

What's your source for that? It's been common knowledge for a while that it would be repainted in standard CO livery.

I think what nuggetsyl meant to say was that it would not be in the fleet as a special plane any more.

No - they just use nautical terminology for most things in aviation, and this is one of them. Just like port / starboard, rudder, calling an aircraft "she" - not sure how Peter Max fits into this though :), etc....

Ah, me thinks not enough coffee this morning! :D
