How many of CO's planes are "named?"

I know that 001 is named after Gordon Bethune. I was a bti surprised to see the name "Sam E Ashmore" on the side of a 752 that just pushed back from C102 at EWR. A bit of googling indicates that he is a former Sr. VP for CO.

Are there any other named aircraft out there? Is this the new "gold watch" for retirees?

Based on comments on a.net's photos, "Sam E Ashmore" is 752 ship #6, N14106.

But photos from as late as 9/06 don't show the name. It's probably named recently.

When I flew to Hong Kong, I was on "Gordon Bethune."

I have seen a number of them named "ETOPS".

On a more serious note, I heard the crew talk a few months ago that the plaque for 777-007 had been taken by some unknown party. I wonder where it is hanging?

Perhaps above a blue carpet?

There's also one called "NYC 2000".

Really, it does say "Peter Max" on the fuselage, a little further back. So, I think we should count this one. 772 ship #14 N77014.

Ship N77014 is not officially named.

The only named vessels are 777's 001, 006, and the 752 N14106

I wonder how much you have to fly...or pay...to get a plaque in your name. Because with the amount of beer it took to get a personalized stool at the bar, I don't know if I could handle the BIS miles necessary for that honor!

Saw 106 in EWR last week with what looked like a fresh coat of paint. That's probably when they applied the title. Wonder why?

I'll dispute that since I saw the Ashmore yesterday afternoon.

I wonder if he feels slighted to have "only" gotten a 752 instead of a 777 named for him

The 752 goes to a lot more European destinations! If I want a plane named "rkkwan", I want it to be a 752!
