CO/VS Codeshare and EQM

This is something that has always confused me and I have seen different conflicting answers in my searches.

I know that you dont get any Elite Bonuses (Silver/Gold/Platinum) on Virgin flights. But which ones quailify for miles and do I need to purchase the flight ticket directly through CO. Here is a scenario I am looking at.

Have a business meeting early AM London time. So I want to catch the
7:30 a.m. JFK-LHR flight. This will get me in about 10pm and give me the chance to get a good night sleep before the meeting. This is a codeshare flight and is listed as CO8220 on Continental.COM

Here is my question
If I buy the ticket directly from Virgin will I get OnePass miles and will they be Elite Qualifying. Providing of course I add my OP number to the PNR (The Virgin ticket is $250 bucks cheaper that purchasing from CO)

see co insiders post (#12) on this thread:

i think it confirms that you get eqm's regardless of who its booked with as long as it has a CO codeshare #
