If I recall correctly, the PCs in IAH do have some sort of a regional beer. It's a ZweigenBock, or something like that. It is not a Shiner Bock but is pretty darn good and much better than the usual swill.

First off, this is my BIGGEST wish list item for CO. I've mentioned before and threads here and there and it never seemed to take root or show any interest. I've even begged COInsider on this very issue.

Now...

NO! I love beer. I drink A LOT of beer. I do not drink CO beer. Heineken is the only 'real' beer CO serves inflight (real=no rice, no corn) and I can't stand Heineken.

For you Fosters fans out there, the Fosters you drink is not Australian. It is no more Australian than I am. Look at the next can/bottle you drink and see where it came from.

Thanks - I developed a taste for it in MD, but was surprised to find it in the Huntsville, AL airport!

FWIW, DL offers Shiner in their DFW lounge.

Yuengling is contract brewed at the old Stroh's brewery in Tampa. That is why it exploded all throughout the south about two years ago.

Hate too bust your bubble but the Ziegen Bock is an AB product and personally I find it gawd awful. Worse than Amber Bock.

It can't be that hard to do, carrying a decent beer system-wide. If NW can do it, c'mon folks. Just a single one - that's all - Sam or whatever, give us a single premium brand, a 'real' beer.

What would the costs be? Just how much more could a Sam or Pete's be? $0.50/per, at most? I bet the awful Heineken is priced no differently then Sam or Pete's.

In the PC's as well. What a great way to distinguish yourself - real beer! It doesn't have to be like EWR was back when there was Harp, Bass, Sam and Guinness, but c'mon, if anything the PC's should have a single real beer system-wide before inflight. People pay a lot of money for club membership and to offer just Heineken and several light beers?????????? Hello?????

Good catch. I meant to type pro-choice.

What the dark beer they serve at the P-Club at EWR? I think the tap is a duck handle. It was fine -- better than a Bud.

Great Lakes is one of the best microbrews in the country. I would be quite happy if CO offered the Dortmunder Gold onboard.

Summer in IAH, EWR, CLE = Humidity= a nice COLD beer for the F pre-departure drink on CO - the scotch can wait till cruising altitiude !

Sorry, Yuengling lovers, but I wouldn't consider Yuengling a step up from Heineken or Fosters. I'd rather see Sam Adams if it came down to it (YMMV).

DawgmanOH Mar 14, 2007 8:58 am

Thanks for the correction on the ZiegenBock. At least it's different, but it's no Shiner Bock.

ssullivan Mar 14, 2007 10:31 am

I also vote for Shiner Bock, at least on flights out of IAH. I remember a time not so long ago when the margaritas were generally only available on flights that were catered out of IAH, so CO does have some precendent for certain beverages only being available on select domestic flights.

And I know it's probably a lost cause at this point, but I'm going to say it anyway. Bring back the Dr. Pepper!
