Using onepass miles to upgrade on virgin

My parents are flying Virgin from LHR to SFO and I would like to use my onepass miles to upgrade them (I'm gold). Does anybody know whether this is possible and who I should contact? Many thanks for your help.

It is not possible to upgrade VS flights using CO miles. Your only option would be to redeem Upper Class rewards using CO miles but if your parents already have purchased their tickets, this point is moot. If you have any VS miles, however, you may use them to upgrade the VS flights.

You can also transfer American Express MR points to VS for upgrades, if you have enough and there is availability. I've been led to believe that the AX->VS transfer is instant, so the risk there for orphaned points should be very low.

I also believe that only certain fare classes are upgradeable on VS. Best to check the official VS website.
