does continental do comps for aa plat

hi, I'm lifetime aa plat and now based in Houston. Will continental do anything to comp me to one of their elite levels, from my aa plat? I'm used to getting first upgrades (most of the time) on AA... now sure how this works on CO, and if being elite helps. thx.

Yes; when going for a status match, AA Plats submitting their credentials/details to CO generally get CO Gold.

CO Golds get unlimited free domestic upgrades if space is available in accordance with upgrade clearing priority.

Is this a one time deal. About 10 years ago, I think I did a match from AA to CO so I am not sure if I will be allowed to do so again.

It's supposed to be a one-time deal with a good number of airlines and hotel programs, but it doesn't always turn out that way, nor do I know if CO's policy is "once in account lifetime" or not. In any event, what's the worst that can happen from trying even if you had gotten a status match before? You won't get it if you don't ask, and if you ask and get denied you're not out more than some time and the cost of a fax.

Sorta of off-track, bu AA will not comp based on CO status; they only offere a challenege. That's okay though, it was a blessing in disguise. CO has the best domestic first class product in the U.S., hands down. If CO gives you status as a straight up match you are getting a much better product that AA so I hope they give it to you. (HAHA, unless you're here in DFW too and then that's just another person I have to compete with for space on the blue carpet)

in the miles buzz forum there is a huge master status thread you might want to check.

It depends. Let's say you're lifetime Platinum on AA but haven't flown in 2006, I think that there's no chance that CO will offer you Gold. You're going to have to show your most recent statement: Continental offers reciprocity to those that fly!

If you're Platinum and getting upgrades most of the time on AA, it means that you're flying on either a Y or B fare--the stickers will get you upgrades too. If you're flying on AA Y or B fares, I am sure that Continental would be interested in hearing from you.
