Overhead bin fight

So i was on an an EJR-145 flight (http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Con...r_ERJ-145.php). I was in seat 3B. There is only one overhead bin on the 2 seat side of the plane. Seat 3A took up the entire bin by having is bag and coat spread out. I carefully shifted his turned his bag so i could fit mine in the overhead. Since i was in the bulkhead I had no choice but to put my bag in the overhead.

3A made some rude remark about how i should of checked my bag, I politely responded that it was a laptop so i couldn't check it. I also pointed out that i was in a bulk head and that unlike him I couldn't put anything at my feet.

When we were getting off the flight he waves his laptop in my face and say "see its a laptop you can't move it around like that." So then says "So how long have you been flying for."

This was clearly a reference to my age since I am 20, but was dressed in business casual attire. I respond to him by saying, "clearly not as long as you have been an a---hole for."

He doesn't say anything and walks off the plane.

while i like your reply and agree with it, does this one-off anecdote really deserve a new thread?

Sure, why not? It's more interesting to me than a lot of sarcastic emoticon replies that populate many of the other threads.

Love his remark, and love your comeback. I take it you both were based out of EWR. :D

I had an interesting experience after the 757 (SFO-DEN) I was flying in landed. I was in 5A and was waiting for the person in 5B to get her stuff together and leave (via the middle door). She took quite a bit of time and there were a number of passengers waiting to pass. Still, once she was done I walked into the aisle and pulled my rollaboard out of the overhead and attached it to my laptop bag with the piggyback strap. I was quick but my coat got stuck in the piggyback strap and I had to fiddle with it to get it loose or I would be doing a huchback sort of a walk. The passenger standing immediately behind me starts off: Come on Sir, we've been waiting for ever here - there are about ten guys behind me who want to kill you right now. My reply was instant "I'll kill you if you don't shut the F_ _ _ _ up". Silence - just the way I like it:)

I try to not to swear in the company of anyone other than friends and family as I feel it drops you to whomever you're disagreeing with's level.

I don't consider the term used in the OP swearing however, they say it on TV just fine =)

My reply to the guy from the OP would have been "Long enough to know only a self important dick spreads his jacket out in the overhead bin on a regional jet"

anyone who doesn't want their jacket wrinkled should put it on top of their bag, their lap, or fly in FC and have it hung up =)

while i agree with the sentiment, you would have never gotten this entire statement out before he breezed off the plane. the OP's response was short and sweet.

The flight was out of EWR, i am a student and 'live' in syracuse. Better said my family lives in syracuse and i spend about 4 weeks a year there. Other than that its Lancaster, PA for school and Wash DC for work.

Oddly enough i live in Rochester, and flew about 48 weeks this year - so 4 weeks "living at home" here also. Us western NY'ers don't take crap from anyone =)
