Codeshare with VS

Hi guys. I'll be flying to LHR from EWR on VS - the flight is operated by VS, but is codeshared with CO. However, I bought it off of the VS website - does this mean I'll get FF miles but not EQM's?

Thanks.

this should help. just make sure your co# number is in the VS record and that you keep your original itin, receipt and all boarding passes until the miles post.

it appears you get EQM's and class of service bonuses, one segment in high fare coach and upper class, but no elite bonuses.

This is correct - as long as the flight is booked into one of the booking classes shown on the page above.

As usual with VS - don't forget you get no elite treatment as a CO elite flyer if you're in economy... no priority checkin, lounge access, etc.

is it certain that you get EQM's if its booked through VS? the footnote seems unclear to me:
* OnePass Elite qualification miles and points may only be earned on Continental Airlines codeshare flights operated by Virgin Atlantic.

Yes it is certain, even though the above statement does appear ambiguous.

Yes - it is certain. All VS' LHR-US-LHR flights are CO codeshares, so you will earn CO EQMs.

side note- sorry

what if you do ewr-lhr-jnb.

co's site says base miles earned on all flights operated by VS system wide and that no elite bonuses are offered, but what about base miles, EQM's and EQP's.

i have heard differing opinions.

id love to take VS, either paid or on reward, to south africa from ewr via lhr.

Officially: EQMs on EWR-LHR only, as this is a flight that CO codeshares on. No EQMs on LHR-JNB.

Unoficially: many people have reported that EQMs have been earned on VS flights that "shouldn't" - but obviously if the system works correctly you have no right to complain.

Base miles will be awarded for the whole trip, assuming it's in one of the valid VS booking codes as shown on CO.com.

I have always gotten EQMs, regardless of whether booked on a CO or VS flt#. Same goes for Eva - even though, in both cases the rules say you need the CO flt#.

thanks for the feedback. i may try it ny-lon in z class (assuming there is no BF sale)

No, they don't. They say that to get EQMs there must be a CO codeshare on the flight, not that you need to be booked on it. So EWR-LHR earns EQMs because it also has a CO number, but LHR-JNB wouldn't because CO doesn't codeshare on it.

Virgin codeshare

Last week I flew a Virgin flight (VS25 from LHR to JFK) - booked on the Virgin website and that did not codeshare with CO. My miles have just been posted and they did go towards my elite status.

This is also known as CO8219. Almost all VS flights from LON to the USA have a CO flight number on them.

Edit - all VS US-LHR-US flights, as well as LGW-MCO-LGW and MAN-MCO-MAN, are CO codeshares. LGW-LAS-LGW.

LGW-MCO can be flown as CO 8247 and CO 8235. You are correct about LAS.

I've ammended my previous claim.
