How to get Temp Status

Just reentering the freq trav scene again and lost my CO status last yr (still have USAir Gold and SWA Companion Pass for a few more months tho).

I seem to recall hearing that you could get an airline to grant you temp status, and then fly with them a lot in a short time, and avoid having to start from zero.

Anyone know how this program works and what the drill is to get it going? My new job already has me booking trips out the wazoo. I need to go to UK next week and don't want to waste 10,000~ miles on 2006 status - I only have about 5,000 on CO this year.

Any quick tips would be appreciated. I need to book later today.

I'm pretty sure this has been discussed in multiple threads previously, but the gist is that there are at least two ways to do this.
1. Call the onepass line and ask them to match another airline's status for you since you are switching to CO. They will ask you to send a copy of your statement with that airline showing the status and than match it usually. This is a once per lifetime match as far as I know, so you can't get stats in one and keep asking for matching.
2. Book a fair number of flights and then call the onepass line and ask for a trial silver elite. This is also something that they won't do every year but I don't think it's a once in a lifetime thing. This also works if you're close to gold elite sometimes and ask for it.

You can do a search to find out about getting a status match based on your USAir Gold.

Bus, I think what you're looking for is a "challenge" and/or "status match".

In the Miles Buzz forum, you can do a search using the word "staus match" and you will come up with threads like this:
http://flyertalk.com/forum/showthrea...ghlight=status

In this (continental) forum, you can also search for "status match" or "challenge" threads.

Just as a word of advice, its always best to do a search before starting a new thread as MOST LIKELY any question you have, has already be asked and answered many times over.

Kepp us posted on how things turn out.
