Fares to VIE next summer - will CO come down?

Austrian, NW/KLM, AirFrance are all offering RT to VIE next summer for about $2,500 in business class. CO, on the other hand, is in the $6,500 - $7,000 range. I like CO quite a bit, but my company would freak if I tried to book CO at this point.

Is there a chance that CO will lower its fares during the next several months? I realize that this is probably impossible to predict, but I know that they often come out with some fares for August that are fantastic.

I checked AA as well, but they were in the CO range with a wonderful transit through LHR. Not.

I was reading another forum thread about new European Destinations on CO and thought about why there isnt a direct flight from EWR to VIE. With the UN there and its eastern european vicinity I would think they might be interested.

I fly there every year for ECR (Euro Congress of Radiology) and hate having to fly from CLE-DTW-AMS-VIE, but I am already looking at that itinerary 5 months out.

AF has a new business class product out. If you want to lock in a discount biz ticket now, go AF and be done with it.

As for why CO doesn't have a VIE flight, there are a few gaping holes in their European strategy (MUC is another glaring example). I'm sure there are good reasons (possibly competition). I would be curious to hear what their reasoning is beind city selection.

I agree - there are some glaring holes, espescially in the eastern half of europe. MUC comes to mind, as does VIE, BUD, and PRG. I see PRG happening before any of the other routes as it is a Skyteam hub. None of these will happen until a 762 is available as they are beyond the range of the 752.

well, once DL will launch its new route to VIE next spring, there might be a 1000 bucks rt C-class sale like when they announced the last new routes to Europe.
