AMS Connect time Enough?
 

Hopefully this isn't a repeat - I tried to do a search (to no avail)...

Monday morning I have a 1 hour 15 minute transfer time in AMS from CO 70 to an Air France flight (both in J class equivelant). Does anyone have thoughts as to whether that should be enough time? Does AMS have the same "Fast Track" type privilages for first class as London, for example, or will I be able to transit without clearing customs/immigration?

Also, if I check a bag, what are the chances it will make the Air France flight?

AMS enables very easy connections and I have not experienced backups at the Immigration checkpoints. Other might have different experiences, but I think you will be fine.

Even though its a huge airport that should be ample time even with passport control, no time for Browsing the DF shops though...:)

I assume you are connecting CO to a Schengen AF flight? If so, be warned that sometimes the immigration lines to the Schengen terminal can sometimes be quite lengthy...especially early in the morning when your flight arrives. You should be fine at 1:15 connecting time, even with a long line.

Provided your flight does not arrive late into AMS, you'll have plenty of time to make your connection. Just hope EWR doesn't have strong crosswinds or other issues that day - you'll end up sitting at the gate for 45 minutes past departure time and will be number 22 in line for departure, as I was last Friday.

The AF flight goes through CDG on the way to my final destination, so I'm guessing I'll have to pass through immigration at AMS (and then won't in CDG, right?). Will I have to exit the AMS sterile area, recheck in at the AF ticket stands, and then re-enter the terminal? Or can the transfer be done without having to go through the xray machines again?

If I am correct, the CO flight arrives at the G Pier.

Your AF flight will depart from the B Pier.

I suggest bringing your running shoes;)

You will go through immigration at AMS, but not customs (that is done after baggage claim). The poster above got it right -- you will have to go from the G pier to the B pier. The walk is not all that bad, but be sure not to lally-dag around in the great "see, buy, fly" shops in the main concourse.

You won't have to do anything at CDG unless there is a gate change and you have to change terminals. Same terminal and you're okay.
