Thumbs up Continental #1 in NYC

Crain’s New York Business reported this week that, based on the total number of passengers flown, CO is the No. 1 airline in New York City, followed by American (AA), JetBlue and Delta (DL). For international traffic, CO topped AA by about a third, and DL’s international passenger volume finished a distant No. 3.

CO has been #1 in NY for quite some time. Last time I looked - about 5-6 years ago CO was #1 with 25% of NY flights, and US was #2 with 12%. Obviously, US is not what it used to be in NY.

If CO is #1 in New York, would that mean that AA is #1 in Jersey?

Maybe for Crain's. But officially for faring purposes NYC = JFK/LGA only. EWR is a separate entity. CO capitalizes on this, as EWR fares are often higher than NYC fares.

Does that mean we can have CO remove all of those banners in EWR that say "Welcome to New York" and all other New York related messages? for false adverting considering you're in wonderful Newark and Elizabeth (Terminal A is in Elizabeth)

Isn't there a fourth airport included in the NY group - HPN - Westchester County (White Plains) - I believe.
