I can verify that it does happen myself. I think it was the case of one GA not knowing what another had done.

Given that I had just "O.J.ed" to the gate, I was not about to miss the flight!

Not quite returning to the gate but I once had a tight connection from dam-cdg-ewr-cle (because the AF flight was late into ewr) and I ran with my old grandmother (and me being 14 at the time) to catch the CO flight only to find that the door had been closed and being informed that all flights that day were full. She called the captain and told him the situation and he graciously agreed to open the door and let us on. She didn't even bother issuing us boarding passes (paper tix) and just told us to get on.

If Couric was on my flight I would consider it a security threat.

British Airways at IAD reattached the gate and opened the 747 door for me in May when I got to the gate a minute after departure time. Very much my fault and very kind of them to do so.

Agreed

I'm surprised the FAMs didn't whip out their guns and shoot her down. Guess they were too busy reading their inflight magazines from their big chairs.

I'm guessing there were no FAM's on this flight; I am pretty sure they would have interfered if there were. But not by whipping out there guns and shooting; that is simply ridiculous. You may not agree with FAMs, but they do not just whip out their guns and shoot!

There probably were no FAMs on this flight because the DL Shuttle only has coach seating. :)

I think there is a deceased gentleman in Florida who might have a different opinion.

If you really think that is a good summary of that story, I don't know what to say.

Some very important details missing include.

- FAMs repeatedly order to stop, and put his hands in the air while the guy keeps RUNNING
- "BOMB" uttered by said gentleman

Some truth to that, but FAMS do fly SOME regional jets to. Just not many.

Not if they can help it. :)

I was on a regional jet to DC on runway and weather was causing delays last year. Started with there will be a 15 min delay, then half hour, etc, etc and 4 hrs had passed. I very nicely told the FA that I felt I was being kidnapped and why couldn't we go back to the gate. She brought me up front, talked to the pilot and after about a half hour said a ladder (? stairs?) was being brought out to runway and they would take me off. Another half hour - hmm problems with this and needing to remove my luggage. Finally after SIX hours on the runway the plane went back to the gate and I left (free at last!!!). To my surprise no one else left with me. Went to get my luggage, had to wait of course and -- rest of px from flight came down as flight was cancelled.

Got miles but I never wrote in to complain since I didn't even want to think about it then.
