A number of airlines at a variety of airports have outsourced baggage handlers HANDLING BAGS ONLY behind the counter. If we are talking about bags only, it's much, much cheaper to hire the outsourced people. It's a great job for college kids!

If we are talking about agents, well I would be shocked!

The Huntleigh folks are strictly there to tag bags and transfer them from the bag well to the bag belt.

Those are the only duties they may perform.

Have a great day!

I think people are missing the concern, it is less to do with the help factor the Huntleigh folks are providing in lifting and tagging, and more to do with the drop in number of agents. Thankfully Sunday night for check in to Flt 66 there were no problems but then again for international they always have a full contingent of CO staff. I did take a look down the line at Elite and non-elite checkin and saw the Huntleigh masses and a couple of CO employees mixed in.

Yes OLCI is great, but there are times even for people that fly 150k plus a year need some help with a ticket issue. Hopefully CO will figure out the right staff mix and the issues people are having are temporary

It sounds like the return of Frank Lorenzo.

ok so non continental personnel are just handling the bags. They aren't staffing the ticket desk, changing my seats, upgrading me, things like that?

isaw some of this last weekend and the staffing situation definitely was different....also it's not tsa people who rifle through your checked bags after the new poeople get done with them, its more outsourcees!
