Intriguing EUA run, in a good way

Today I purchased RT CLE - BOS in K class via our travel agent for this coming Tue - Wed (7/11 - 7/12). The tickets were booked at 7:33 PM EST.

At 7:45 PM EST, I immediately received confirmation of an upgrade on both flights. Wild! Don't get me wrong, I am thrilled and am NOT complaining, but I thought EUA only ran at 12 AM CST each day and only if I bought a Y fare would I get it right away.

Interesting.

Impressive indeed. I have received the upgrade notification at different times--all the time in the evenings--but I don't think it always happens at midnight'ish central.

It tends to happen in the evenings.

This was not an instant EUA. Rather, your timing was perfect. Had your ticket been issued a few minutes later, you would've been missed by this run and would have had to get picked up by tomorrow's run.

Slightly OT, but what's CO's official policy on the following:

1.) Elite buys coach (not Y) ticket inside his/her upgrade window.
2.) There IS "R" space available.
3.) Elite calls CO to try and grab "R" space before EUA run that night.

Will CO assign the "R" space to that Elite since s/he is inside the window, and it's available?

No. :( They will say at the next EUA window the computer will process the upgrade (assuming space).

I don't think this is a bad thing, as it prevents Silvers from watching the R bucket and calling to try to snag an R seat before a Gold or Plat.

Yep, I agree. Also keeps things within the rules that CO has set up within each elite group regarding fare class paid and time of booking.

Good points CO 1E & ssullivan - did not catch that angle. ^
