First Class check-in/boarding

If four people in a family are taking a trip together, and only one or two flies first class, can all four check-in together and board in the Elite access lane or do they have to check-in and board seperately. Sorry if this has been answered before.

This is a judgment call of the gate agent, but usually they'll let you guys all go through together. They are usually very considerate in splitting up families. I've dragged two other travelers along with me in the elite access line with me. Sometimes they're more stringent when it comes to the elite access security line, though. You have to explain to TSA people that you're a family traveling together. Check-in is dependent upon how you booked the tickets. If you booked them all together at once, then you can check in all at once.

You won't have a problem with check-in.
On boarding, if the family members are children - then no problem either. If they are adults you can likely say we are together as a family.

However, adult children over 21 are likely viewed as separate passengers.

Thanks for the input; I am pretty excited about this whole EliteAccess thing

Also, do agents ever randomly upgrade passengers flying with First class passengers out of the kindness of their heart?

climbermom Jun 27, 2006 6:21 pm

ROFLMAO.

Um, no.

no!

But they can checkin and board with you. I've
checked in with 6 friends... and went just fine :)
they didnt let all of us board, but I managed to two friends
with at pre-boarding time.

Have a nice trip!

Um, the family is splitting up once they get on the plane (some in F, some in Y), so what's the problem with splitting them up right before they get on the plane? To protect the sanctity of the Elite Access boarding process. I really don't think the Y pax should get any special treatment.
I'm ok with a little more leeway at check-in and security, no need to split them up that far in advance.

Yeah, but it would still be nice if we could all board together.

You'll be fine. I bring travelling companions with me during elite boarding even when we're all in Y.

You're getting on an airplane, not going to church!

Well, doesn't CO refer to the "sanctity of the BF cabin" in defending the ridiculous 72-cum-24-hour rule? Or am I thinking of another word?
Scarcity? Serenity? Hmmm..., no I think it was sanctity.

It's actually the "integrity" of the BF cabin.

And to the OP, if you're Gold or Platinum, you can waitlist a companion for an upgrade at the airport within two hours of departure. Little chance it would clear though.

It's integrity of the BF cabin. Realize you're talking about something totally different than the OP. He doesn't want his whole family to sit on his lap in BF, he wants them to get on the plane and back into their seats in coach! :-:

Can't he UG his family if he and his partner are at least gold elites?

I have no elite status, and I'm not sure what you mean by partner :D
