They usually have extras. Sometimes they'll even put it on a plate for you. All you have to do is ask.

The soups are good, but keep in mind if you add enough cream to anything it tastes good. I honestly think the sandwiches in F are the best, and thats saying something right there.

i agree... it certainly sounded good when they described it... but it was just plain awful..

the cheeseburgeer had to be better

I have also enjoyed the lasagna which I had fairly recently EWR-IAH.

However, I agree that a salad instead of soup would be nice once in a while.

Also, they used to serve a ravioli which was pretty good too.

I've had some good beef tips on CO. However, the bad has far outnumbered the good. By far...

I actually like the cheeseburgers served in Y. Stay away from the obnoxious chicken sandwich served in Y - it's a breaded piece of chicken fried in some sort of ugly lard and plonked between two pieces of slimy bread masquerading as buns. Yuk.

the best meal ever was the jambalaya. it had nice big shrimp on top also.

just before 9/11 my iah-mco flight had a small salad, the jambalaya (the other choice was a bone in chicken breast with mashed pots) and then a warm apple pie. now its, soup sandwhich and a peice of candy.

The jumbalaya did make an appearance recently. I had it on the IAH-YYZ 735 back in late March. And it was very good, with about four large shrimp and pieces of chicken breast. And the sundae for dessert. It was the best non-transcon/BF dinner I've had on CO in the last two years.

But it was served with the cream of asparagus soup. I like the asparagus soup, but it was kind of an odd combination. I would have much preferred the salad they used to serve with the jumbalaya.

The Jumbalaya is pretty good and I agree some of the soups do not really work well with it.

I have yet to see the Kung Pao Shrimp others have mentioned in a different thread but that sounded good to me.

Alpo?

I've had the beef tips in FC to FLL, I think that ALPO might be a better selection. Maybe Larry should have to try the offerings first before they make it on the menu! :p

According to some other threads, Larry flies coach; he has no idea what's going on in FC. ;)

I'd have to say, after eating the food hundreds of times, the F sandwiches would be great if there was more to them. The bread is generally good as are the fillings; there's just not enough of it. The best is the turkey and fontina on focaccia with real, whole turkey and a big, thick slice of cheese.

One of the problems is consistency between stations, especially with the salads. One day you'll find the bowl overflowing with very fresh greens, the next, half full with so-so quality (SEA always seems to be good).

As far as the beef tips, I've yet to try them but I'm sure I will. Don't worry, they'll eventually fall out of rotation and be replaced by something, hopefully, more to your liking.

Oh, and the soups have always been a favorite of mine ever since they served them to us for lunch in training (lobster bisque rules).

Surprised it took 25 posts before lobster bisque was mentioned. Yeah, it rules and I'll take that for breakfast, lunch and dinner, thank you... :D

I miss the BBQ beef sandwich...that was tasty, as was the Rueben.

I could do without the Rueben(especially the ones from FLL) as they were super greasy.

When? Seems like the beef tips have been the preferred dinner choice for well over a year now. It seems like there is less rotation these days.

Tonight on CO 51 (EWR-IAH), the dinner choice in F was once again beef tips or the shrimp salad. I wasn't upgraded, but was in the first row of Y so I listened in as the flight attendant was taking orders in the last row of F.

Some form of beef tips have been served on every CO flight with the full dinner service I've been on in the last 12 months with the exception of three international flights. The veggies with the beef tips and the type of sauce has varied some, but I have seen the beef tips at least once in just about every month since May 2005. That's a pretty slow rotation. Makes you wonder just how good of deal Chelsea Catering has gotten on beef since they're serving it so much these days.

A little more variety would be nice!

pptp May 26, 2006 10:13 pm

I guess I should have said "menu change" rather than "rotation". Not sure when it's gonna change but it eventually does. I gotta admit, the tips have shown up in many permutations (I think that's what's in the Philly steak sandwich). The meat used is supposed to be high quality, aged beef.
