My First EUA

Well, I'd just like to say that I got my first EUA as a Silver on an L fare. OK. It is on a NW opped flight, and it's only 52 minutes flight time, but still. EUAs rock. I just hope they come through for my other segs., as all but one are showing lots of R avail. Sorry if this is a useless thread, but I just had to share my elation with the world. :D

Congratulations; I remember my first upgrade too. Your flight will be fastest 52 minutes in your life. Just so you know, Continental is much classier than Northwest. True, I am biased, but I am also right! :)

Glad to hear it :)

Enjoy the ride up front

Great to hear!

I traveled a lot last year and I achieved Silver towards the end of 2005. I flew to Asia in December and I was upgraded both ways in the domestic sectors (CLE-LAX and LAX-CLE). I was sooo happy when I found out that I got EUA, especially on the last leg after having flown for hours and hours from Jakarta on BR (I was also upgraded to Economy Deluxe on CGK-TPE segment because of, I think, equipment change).

Too bad I don't travel as much this year. I might have to do some MRs to keep my Silver status.

Woo hoo, be careful, can get very addicting. :p

My first upgrade also was on NW metal. Hope you experience CO F soon.

How you going to get them back on the farm after they've seen Paree (Paris)?

You'll find that you are never dissapponted when your get an EAU no matter what metal you are flying.

Well, amazingly, or maybe not, I was 5 for 5 for EUAs/PR2s. As a Silver. In the L fare bucket. The last leg didn't become available until about 3 hours before flight time. Other than that, all my upgrades were (mostly) processed during OLCI.

I really like COs domestic F. Nice seats (partciularly 1AB on the 752), pretty good food (cold plate a little skimpy, main dishes mostly quite good), fabulous selection of liqueurs (yay for White Russians), really good service (mostly), and just general awesomeness. This was actually my first time flying CO in about a year and a half, as I switched to AS, but they started getting more expensive and not as reliable, but it's better than NW or AS's F product.

To be fair, my experience with NW F is limited to about a 25 minute air-time flight, but the seats weren't as nice (A319) and the windows were all scractched up and opaque. On the plus side, I thought DTW was a pretty nice airport, particularly with that express tram and omnipresent moving walkways. Loved the tunnel that connects to the main terminal from where CO lands. Kind of reminds me of the one at MCO (can't remember if it was there or ATL) and someone noted that it was similar to the one at ORD. I'll probably post a more detailed entry later on.

So, I am guessing the B757 you were on turned out to be configured for domestic FC. If so, you have a real thrill ahead of you when you're schedule on a flight configured in BF.

Methinks you've never seen KLM FC in Europe

You are indeed correct. I probably wouldn't have been upgraded on it if it were a 757, though, as I'm a lowly silver and I was booked in the cheapest FB possible. The bulkhead with the cutouts for carry-on was pretty freaking sweet though. By far the best bulkhead seat for domestic F (was on a 73G, 735, and 738 for bulkheads), although I haven't checked out the 753 yet.
