I suggested that IMO, this forum has changed over the last few months, in response on another thread where the OP got the "try a search" comment.
I think the CO "regulars" could accurately predict who is most likely to post a sarcastic comment, who is most likely to suggest a search, who is most likely to take a contrary point of view, and who is most likely to answer the questions responsibly and professionally. I don't like to think that anyone with a legitimate question or comment would be hesitant to post because of the tone in this forum. |

At this point, the thing to do is bump the thread that has the most relevant or pertinent information of the various pre-existing threads. This is performing a great service to the community, in revisiting and updating old information, yet still using the collective stored wisdom of our members. Likewise, the "do a search" crowd might do well to bump a more pertinent thread. I often do so with the comment, "There seems to be a resurgence of interest in this topic." Finally, we really should exercise care and discretion in starting new threads. The profligate starting of such threads is ultimately, at its heart, selfish and disrespectful of the time of other members. A low ratio of threads started to overall posts is the hallmark of a considerate FlyerTalker. |
Actually this goes in cycles. About 5 years ago it was really mean with the get a search responses. Then it swang the other way and we all got along. Now it seems to be swinging back the other direction. It really is a function of three or four people each time.
