CO still announcing "TSA" 30 minute rule.
Flight 1558 IAH-DCA on June 26th, 2006.
One FA says it is CO policy. Then the head FA gets on and says - "It is TSA policy that passengers be seated for flights into DCA while the seat belt sign is on". Several announcements started 1.5 hours before arrival. Just made for a tense flight. Ruined the enjoyment of my paid F seat.
Compare to DL Shuttle DCA-LGA-DCA July 1 - 4. What a nice relaxing flight. Not a word about being seated - no TSA rules announcement, no special DCA arrival announcement. Just made for a more pleasing flight. Combine that with extra seat pitch on the DL shuttle flights, leather seats in coach, free beer and wine, arrival in close in LGA versus EWR, etc. Plus the DL shuttle is cheaper than CO by 50%. Why would anyone want to fly DCA-EWR unless connecting or live in NJ.

Why isn't this a good topic to be directed to the attention of the CO Insider?

If CO wants to adopt such a policy - fine - but then enforce it on all CO flights - not just flights to DCA.
Since I almost exclusively fly CO, it was a pleasant surprise to be on a DL flight - without the constant announcement about being seated.

One of the many reasons I fly the shuttle more than CO on this route.

Complain if you like, but my cynical self tells me that you will get hit with a response to the effect that airlines are permitted to make any reasonable security precaution they see fit as long as it is within FAA directives. They would probably also remind you that you are required to follow all crewmember instructions or face FAA charges.
Who knows...you might get some miles out of it, but I doubt it.

A bulletin reinforcing the removal of any DCA-specific announcements was sent to all flight attendants on 27-Jun. This will also be addressed in the next version of our Flight Attendant manual, which goes out on 15-Jul.

I can now order that extra glass of wine or that after dinner cup of tea. Under the no pee rule - you were never sure whether that 30 minutes would extend to 1 hour if a last minute landing delay, etc. Made the flight tense, and less enjoyable.

It could be worse. I just took my first AA flights in over 5 years. On both segments, the Captains droned on and on (and on and on) about how we need to behave, use the lavatories in our ticketed cabins, not stand in line to use the lav, not stand near the galley, not stand in the aisles, not put our feet on the walls and not do this and not do that. It sounded more like my last High School field trip than a trip on a common carrier I paid money for. What did these people think we were going to do? Start a conga line in the aisle? Throw imaginary peanuts at each other? Geez, lighten up!

The rule may be gone, but not the announcement...
As we're waiting to get pushed back from the gate today CLE-DCA (#2970), the captain gets on and says good evening, blah blah blah, "due to heightened security regulations flying into Reagan National," we're going to keep the seatbelt sign illuminated, it's such a short flight we'll be 30 minutes from the airport once we reach cruising altitude, or some variation of that.
Then with about a halfhour to go, he reminded people to stay seated. I asked the FA about it and pointed out that the rule was revoked aways back, and he said "that's what I thought, but he's the boss!"
Not a big deal, except I was already grumpy and realized that if I had had a pukin' hangover instead of just a headache and had to run to the lav in the back, I could have been tackled by an FAM! That would not have made me feel better.
