I don't think they're going to cancel a flagship flight like IAH-LGW for light load. I doubt they've sold just 4 seats on that flight anyways.

i remember years ago me and a friend were the only passengers on a co 727 flt. from iah to den on an early saturday morning. and we were non-revs. if ever a flt. was going to be cancelled for light loads, that was it.

As learned at the DO, it's very tough to reposition a 777 in their scheduled because of how few they have. There are few parts depots worldwide (primary being EWR). Also, most maintenance can only be done in certain cities. I forget what level it is, but the one maintenance fix can only be done in HKG, so they try to position aircraft for a revenue flight there. |
We don't do that.
After more than 2 decades with Continental I have never (not even once) seen a flight cancelled because of a light load. I have seen many flights go with no passengers at all and countless flights go with less than 5 pax.

Personally, I have flown some pretty empty flights. Less then 10 people on an RJ, 1/3rd full on a mainline, etc. |
