Seat Assignment Question
 

I am flying on Saturday OMA-IAH. A later flight got canceled and I got rebooked. I just realized that my seat assignment is gone. When I called, it turns out that only the exit rows are open, however, the "system" won't allow the agent to assign any seat at this point in time. I am a NW Silver, the ticket is a non-rev award ticket booked via NW miles.

What are my options at this point? It looks like the flight is overbooked and I don't want to chance getting bumped as I am flying with Mrs. michaelr (whose seat assignment is still intact).

If I did not have seat assignments... and if "the system" was not handing them out I'd be worried. If the flight is oversold, checking in at the 24-hour mark may be the best way to assure yourself a seat -- it may not be the best seat, but at least it is a seat.
