CLE to LAS
It seems like after I book a flight the price goes down. I want a CO flight from CLE to LAS on 7/5 which is now $316. The plane looks pretty empty. Does the price go up or down as 7/5 gets closer? All comments will be appreciated.

I fly that route all the time and in the prices never seem to follow a pattern. I've bought a ticket for under $300 two days before departure a few times and then occasionally it can be $700.
My average ticket price is around $350.00. |
KAM---When I fly to Las Vegas(LAS), LAX or Phoenix(PHX). I always look for flights out of Columbus(CMH) Pittsburgh(PIT) or Akron-Canton(CAK). Flights out of PIT to LAS were about $200 a few days ago with no weekend stay. Pittsburgh would be about two hours from you down Route 11 to the turnpike compared to one hour or more to Hopkins.

I just flew from CLE to LAS from 3/10 through 3/13, and my fare was around $225, direct flights both ways. I think that the key was that I didn't stay the saturday night, which is too expensive for hotel rooms that night in vegas anyway. If you can avoid the sat. night stay, I think you'll be better off pricewise (and EUA-wise).
Just a side note about CLE...I think that it's a bit better than most others in the area. I've flown out of CMH and CAK (never PIT), and the great thing about CLE is the RTA access. Coming from either Ashtabula or Willowick, just take 90 W out to Lakewood (where I live http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif, and do a park and ride at the RTA station there. Just leave your car at the RTA station, and it's $1.50 each way to and from the airport, and the train drops you off right inside, no outside walking. Your car will be fine and safe, I always leave mine there, and even left it there when I was out of town for 2 weeks over New Years. Sure beats paying the outrageous long-term parking fees at CLE, although they may be a little less at other airports. Sorry for the length of the post, just trying to help out others as I've been helped here :-) |
CLE-LAS isn't a saturday stayover market. LAS fares usually only require an overnight stay of some kind. 7/5 is a holiday period, CO knows they can get more for the same seat than they could on ohter days. I wouldn't expect it to go down. I'd buy it.
OTOH, you also have the option of a charter from CLE. That might work for you, or FL from CAK, with a connect in ATL. |
