Despite all my CO nonrev years, only a couple:

Marvelous Marvin Hagler, in F from EWR-DCA, friendly

Houston Rockets team, IAH-MIA: team took all of F, coach Rudy T. came to the back of Y and found an empty row across from my boss and me, read a book

Hollis Harris, CEO of Continental in early '90s in F IAH-SFO, did paperwork during entire flight

Non-CO highlight: Although he is unknown in the US, German readers might recognize the name of the brilliant stage director Hans Neuenfels. Sat right across from me in the LH business lounge at Stuttgart airport. I was too afraid to go up to him and tell him how much I admire his work (still regret that I didn't).

When making reservations, I always ask the agent if there are any celebs on the flight. They have an entry that supplies those names. I've flown with Johnny Carson (sitting next to me), Chastity Bono, Lee Brown (Houston mayor), Andy Griffith, Paula Poundstone, and Hakeem Olajuwon.

I flew EWR-LAX with the band Incubus. I barely knew who they were (one call to my 15 year old sister cleared that up.) They had a rocker look and I saw several passengers go up to TSA agents asking them to be rescreened. They were and to their distinct credit, they were completely jovial about it. They couldn't have been nicer guys and all I kept thinking was that if I were selling out Madison Square Garden, I certainly wouldn't be putting up with my fellow passengers "requesting" gate screening for me.

I have a hard time believing this one. An airline would not provide that information to a random caller.
Plus, if I were a celebrity, I would not give business to an airline, hotel or any other business that would give my personal information out. Highly unlikely that CO has a computer entry to pull up celebs

If I ask nicely, will they add me to said list??

My mom told me that someday I'd grow up to be famous.

There actually is (or at least was) such an entry. The list itself is (was) called the News-Worthy Persons list.

Because I had no connection to fligth operations, I have no idea how the list was populated (I have a guess - certain corporate travel agencies had heavy entertainment industry clientele and the NWP designation may have originated in PNR remarks - again, that is strictly a guess).

Sometimes co-workers and I, strictly out of personal curiousity, would look at the NWP list to see if any NWPs would be on a flightwe were booked or listed on.

As you might suspect, a significant number of NWP entries were for members of the Texas congressional delegation. Entertainment names would always pick up around the time of the Oscar and Tony Award shows (especially the latter when CO served as the official airline sponsor).

One entry I remember seeing a lot in the early ninties was Jacqueline Onassis, flying on many summer weekends with her significant other (Mr. Templesman, or some thing similar) from EWR to Martha's Vineyard on COEX.

Lastly, IMHO it should go without saying that it would be highly inappropriate for a CO telephone agent to reveal this information to a random customer!

While I believe that you might get an agent to give you this information, that agent is playing with fire, especially if this is a flight to/from Europe. All agents that have access to inventory information like that are required to go sign special EC privacy forms. While those regulations don't apply to domestic US flights, the agent is still putting their job at risk.

Yes, there is an entry in the system, "NWP" or News Worthy Person, but this information is not for public distribution. It is there to assist with personal privacy for that individual. So if a Res agent is giving out that information, that is totally contradictory to the purpose of the system.
That entry is something that Res agents learn on the first day of class, and also told how protected that information is. I can't imagine an agent reading the NWP list to a random caller!

Drew Barrymore in F on a Sunday Evening (8/3) BOS-EWR flight. She was met and escorted through the terminal by what looked like private security + a NJ State Trooper or Transit Cop (in uniform).

A guy saw them and tried to take her picture and the cop tried to wave him off. I think he got the picture anyway.
