Elite Qualification Points
I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but is say I'm flying AUS-IAH-MSY and same retun, is that 4 Elite Qualification Points RT? So what I'm asking is each way of a RT one, or does each flight get you one?

You get one point for each segment (depending on the fare class and how you booked, of course...) so your trip would net you 6 segment points.

Actually, that would be 4 segment points, not 6, - if you booked on co.com or flew in an "eligible' fare class.

If you fly in F or Y (full fare) you get double segment points. Check this out:

Raises an interesting point.
Last year flew several times as non-Elite EFD-IAH-SEA-YYJ, but always only got 1 point and EQM. This year flew a couple of flights originating at EFD, and got 2 points per flight for a total of 8. Even with 37,000 EQM last year didn't have enough points to qualify on that basis. Is this status related, or did CO simply not give me what was due? Oh, and everything was booked on CO.com. Or was I simply http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/starsmilie.gifenhanced http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/starsmilie.gif in a good way? This still is CO, so I seriously doubt that ..... EmailKid ------------------ I am NOT a tin elite! Then again, what the hell do I know? |
I believe I read somewhere that although they made it harder to qualify for elite w/discount fares, F and Y are easier, at least in terms of points.
I'm trying to qualify for the first time this year, using points. I'm on a trip right now from BWI-RDU where the T class fare routed me BWI-CLE-EWR-RDU-EWR-CLE-BWI. Six segments (points) in all, so I took it. I'm also always checking the F and Y fares to see if they're close enough to make it worth the double points. I only fly about six times a year, so it's worth it to me to try to maximize each flight. FWIW, I realize that only making Silver doesn't get me much in terms of UG's, but priorty check-in, security and boarding are worth it in themselves (to me). An UG here and there would be a bonus. |
I flew full Y EFD-IAH-LAX and back and received 2 points per segment (8 total) as well as EFD-IAH-CLL (College Station) on a V fare that showed Y for the EFD-IAH segments. I received 2 points for the EFD-IAH and 1 for the IAH-CLL for a total of 6 points.
It is definately worth looking for the Y fare. Sometimes you can snag it on the EFD-IAH by booking a fully refundable for the rest of your itinerary. FWIW DLM [This message has been edited by dmunz (edited Mar 01, 2004).] |
