He may have though he didn't have a seat to return to???

back to the commodity issue.. Most airline seats are virtually the same. 17" w 31" pitch ( yes I know some slight variations). Seats are a coomodity since they are all viurtually the same. When you buy gas do you really care if its exxon or shell? Maybe you decide by price or convienence. The gas costs bit more but the station is close to your home. Maybe you pick one ailrline over another because they have a slightly better schedule or a similar reason. We the FF while an important source of revenue probably make up less then 20% of the flying public. So we might make a choice based on other criteria (UG's fine blue carpets, etc.) Therefore, for everyone else a seat is a seat if that weren't true LCC's would not have survived. (OK and some provide better service then legacies B6) and that makes seats commodoties. In fact, they trade as such as well. In places were seats are in abundance prices fall to the lowest availabe seat cost in places were they are scarce the cost rises...

What About the Other Straws???

What's missing from this complaint is the supposed "straws" that came before. I can't imagine that this one incident would drive a rational person into such a major funk. Sure, it was awkward; but that is ALL it was.

In my experience, the only circumstance I've withessed that keeps me from choosing an airline is the abysmal "Food for sale" mess on Delta. If possible, I'll avoid that experience 'til I croak; but I'll be happy to fly DL under any other circumstance.
