CO.Com now shows EQM %
When you do a flight search on Continental.com - it now shows you the flight miles and the percentage that qualifies as EQM.
Cool feature! -Rob M. |
Hmm...according to this, low-fare NW-operated (but CO-coded) will get 100% EQMs if booked online. Do you think this is true, or a mistake?
CO5398 Sacramento, CA (SMF) 12:15 p.m. Minneapolis, MN (MSP) 5:41 p.m. 0 Sat., Jan. 10, 2004 1,515/100% Class: Economy (Q) Meal: None Continental flight 5398 operated by Northwest Airlines. CO5610 Minneapolis, MN (MSP) 7:06 p.m. Baltimore, MD (BWI) 10:23 p.m. 0 Sat., Jan. 10, 2004 7 hr 8 mn 934/100% Class: Economy (Q) Meal: None Continental flight 5610 operated by Northwest Airlines. |
Not that cool. It appears that everything says 100%, even the T fare tickets that I just priced, since the footnote set forth in the asterisk states as follows (emphasis and highlighting added):
"OnePass frequent flyer mileage information is provided as a convenience to OnePass members. Elite miles is the percentage of OnePass miles earned towards Elite status when booked on continental.com. Actual flown miles will be posted to your account. Fare class, Elite and other promotional bonuses are not included in the totals listed. A minimum of 500 OnePass miles is earned for flights less than 500 miles in distance. For Amtrak train segments 250 OnePass miles is awarded for Economy Class and 325 OnePass miles for First Class." Wiseguys. |
Fly AA and you won't have to worry about that silly EQM%.
|
Yeah, but what about the T class codeshare flights OPERATED BY NW or DL that are currently showing 100% EQM's? I thought that we had concluded that we would NOT get 100% EQM's -- even if we book on CO.com???

Well the stew just got a little thicker. I saw this thread and checked a few fares online and shazam there are the EQMs! Not only that but out of curiosity I checked my reservations and THEY also show EQMs attached to the flights. Funny thing is, I bought one of the fares (NW metal and a cheapy) over the phone from CO and it is to be flown in January (mental lapse not to book online) and it shows full 100% EQM. This is in to contrast to what I was told over the phone when I realized my mistake in booking a 2004 cheap fare over the phone I tried to cancel and book online, and they said I couldn't and I would only receive 50% EQM.

Two other discrete changes:
1. The term "Snack" on mid-con flights is now called "Meal: Snack. No Special Meal Offered." 2. The mileage shown appears more accurate (e.g., SFO-EWR used to show 2,572 but post 2,565. Now it just shows 2,565). |
Click on the asterisk in the "100%" column and it tells you you only get that much if you purchase on co.com. *EVERYTHING* shows 100%.
Another intersting thing, EWR->SFO now shows 100% of 2565 miles when the other day it was 2572. Did I miss an earthquake or something? [This message has been edited by xyzzy (edited Dec 17, 2003).] |
Clearly CO.com will only give you the EQM's if you earn them as a CO OP member.
They can't re-work their entire website for all of the partners they have. Too much to ask? |
For both Y and J, it shows flight miles and 150%. That is, it displays the base miles and gives you the EQM percentage as if you booked online.

I noticed the same thing with a booking last night which had some segments on NW showing 100% EQM. I plan to print out that page before purchasing, and when the miles post in January, if I am shorted, I will fax the page in and demand my full credit.
Now of course, that assumes CO won't backpeddle on all their changes now that DL has done a big about-face. So many positive things happening now, it feels like the exact oppposite of last year http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
This is getting really interesting. I just booked (and paid for) a short hop from Houston to College Station in February. I'm leaving out of Elington Field, which is a "free" hop from CO. (So I'm EFD->IAH->CLL and CLL->IAH->EFD.) The IAH to CLL and back are T an V fares, but the attached EFD hops are Y and showing 150% EQM.
If this is going to be typical of EFD attachments, there are going to be a lot more elites in the Clear Lake/NASA area next year... FWIW DLM |
the only thing Delta has done is equal CO's policies (unless I am missing something)...why would CO change?
|
My guess is that this EFD anomoly will go the way of the segment/mileage credit for the EWR->ABE bus.
