Can Delta miles be used for flights on CO equip?

Yes..

my boss is trying to use his Delta miles to fly EWR to HNL and DL is telling him that he has to use DL equip through ATL?? He wants to use CO.

I told him to tell DL that he wants to fly EWR-HNL direct using thier miles and that will "force" them into pulling a CO flight. Is this correct?

and there goes standard rewards... :(

It may or may not have availability, but he can certainly request it.

So DL may be trying to push DL as a preference (so they don't have to pay CO for the ticket), or the CO flight is not available and the agent is giving him a DL alternative, or the agent is ignorant and doesn't know CO is a partner.

So if I want to use Delta miles to fly CO, the way to do it is to call Delta SkyMiles and make the reservation with them, specifically requesting a CO flight?
