Was I in F or BF?
 
I apologize in advance if this was discussed in previous threads...

On Sunday I flew FLL-EWR on a 757 in F- the seat reclined pretty far back and had a tv monitor that came out of the center armrest. This morning I flew F on a 737-500 and the seat was just a big leather seat that had a recline very similar to that of the Y seat. I also fly BF on 777 from EWR-TLV and that seat is not far off from that of the 757.

Please clarify..

Sounds like BF to me
 
I've only seen and read about the BF seats, but by all accounts you had the pleasure of sitting in one on a domestic flight, something that used to happen, but not so much anymore.

I've been upgraded to the standard FC seat a few times, and while it does recline more than the coach seat, it's nowhere near to flat. As I understand it, BF also has more pitch than FC.

You were sitting in a BusinessFirst equipped 757-200.

You were lucky :)
a few domestic flights are operated with international aircraft, often EWR-Florida, and transcon. You get domestic F service, but the much nicer seat.

I look out for BF domestic flights, they're easy to spot from the seat maps. I'm willing to risk worse upgrade chances to nab such a flight; I'm willing to spend the 15,000 miles on a poor upgrade chances flight, to nab the seat for sure. After regular upgrades get to be same-old same-old, BF is the big fish in the lake, the one worth fishing for.

Ditto, and I'm also willing to pay up for a Y fare with elite upgrade to F on a long enough route (recently did it EWR-LAS), particularly if CO is playing its usual fare games and K is the lowest available fare...

How can I tell which planes are BF?

On CO's downloadble timetables, those with BF are called 752. Those with domestic FCs are called 757.

Or when you book online, check the seat map for the front cabin. 752 has 16 BF seats (4 rows). 757 has 24 FC seats (6 rows).

Sorry guys. It's not that easy. 752 can be equipped as domestic FC with 24 seats or BF with 16 seats. See www.seatguru.com. Case in point is the 9:00 flight from SFO to EWR. On weekdays, it's 24 FC seats. On Saturday, it's 16 seat BF, but it always shows up as a 752. You have to check the seat map.

Are you sure you're talking about checking the PDF timetables available from Co.com? Of course in Co.com reservations, all flights show up as 757-200, so you have to check the seat map. The PDF timetable does differentiate between 757 and 752. It shows the 9:50pm SFO-EWR flight as 752 daily. I checked seat maps for several days this week, and all flights are scheduled for the BF-equipped aircraft.

And a few Tuesdays ago as a Gold I flew IAH-SEA with empty seats in FC. Shows there is no guessing what your chances are these days...lol.

And CO.com shows four empty FC seats for tomorrow's IAH-SAN, BUT still no UG for this Gold.

BTW, no UG on the abovementioned IAH-SEA on a 738 (IIRC) either :rolleyes:

Oh, and one other thing about the 757 / 752. While it may be on the timetable, CO can always make a substitution, even for some flavor of 737.

A lot of the trans-atlantic 757 flights are followed by short runs to places like Florida. This is perfect because the 757s then work a full day. The TXL flight comes from FLL so it is VERY possible that you have snagged a BF seat - the description sure sounds like BF!

Was the tv monitor working? I've heard that on BF equipped 757s that do the domestic runs the individual IFE isn't turned on.
