Do FTers Hate CO The Most (after DL)?????
I've been surfing some of the other airline forums and it appears to me that we seem to hate CO the most, after DL.
We don't have any rat buttons (yet) and C-O-N-T-I-N-E-N-T-A-L does not easiy convert into an acronym like: Driving Every Loyal Traveler Away. So, what airline do FTers hate the most? ------------------ CO treats me like a king, Rodney King |
CO has been developing some serious flaws lately, but each time I find myself needing a plane ticket, it's off to www.continental.com for me.

It's seasonal, really. A few months back, UA was the airline to hate, and now CO and DL are the flavors of the month...

Actually, avek, I would say United was a one-month wonder but Delta is flavor of the year.
A rolling billboard, USA Today ads, a website and ongoing guerrilla resistance have to qualify as some sort of milestone for frequent flyer antipathy. I am not sure what is more impressive: the continued loyalty evidenced by the effort or the apparent futility of it all. Switching to NW last January was one of the best travel decisions we ever made. We've even enjoyed our short CO experiences, and are looking forward to more in December. Now to cash in the rest of our Delta miles before they become worthless! Bitter? Hatred? Naw, we're realistic and look out for the best return on investment for our particular travel patterns. May all airlines earn the reward their policies deserve in the marketplace. CO folks who are disgruntled should do what the Delta folks should have done ten months ago: vote with their wallets. There is no reason to "hate" an airline; just reasons to give them your money or not. Eh? |

BA, DL, UA, US, etc. have made POOR DECISIONS (at least from the perspective of Flyertalkers) in regard to their frequent flyer programmes...
CO has the additional 'benefit' of having a big-mouthed buffoon (or should I say, baboon?) at it's helm, so it might keep winning the 'most annoying airline/FF programme to deal with' award for years to come! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |

The point is that people (except certain apologists) are always critical about any of the airlines they fly since none of them are perfect. Certain outrages are temporary all the way from a single bad service incident to a change in some price/benefit. This is par for the course for any business. When such incidences or changes become cumulative or have far-reaching consequences or affects a large population, the outrage rises proportionately. United did build up this type of outrage in the 80s and early 90s. It took a long time for it get their customers back. On top of this, add a lack of trust and/or doubts about ethical behavior towards their customers, the business is in deep trouble whether it knows it or not. In this regard, CO is very different from other airlines in that it has shown reasons to be upset about in all of the above manners. The anger against CO from many current and ex-customers go far beyond outrage to a small set of changes. The company philosophy itself on how to treat customers is the issue. DL showed one way to create an antagonistic relationship. CO has shown many more. [This message has been edited by venk (edited 11-09-2003).] |
