Dr. Pepper Gone?

On two flights, EWR-GVA and AMS-IAH, over the weekend, the FA's told me that CO no longer serves Dr. Pepper. I got one on SAN-EWR ok, and the website indicates that it's still available...

Anyone know if it's really the case that Dr. Pepper is being phased out? If so, I find it rather disconcerting that a Texas-based company won't be serving this fine beverage.

I just got my favorite, DIET Dr. Pepper, on both CO flights this past weekend.

Dr. Pepper is being phased out on most international long haul flights. It will still be available domestically, and on most latin/caribbean leisure markets.

Phew! Thanks for the info, and welcome to FlyerTalk, CALflyboi!

Interesting... Maybe it's simply harder to get internationally? Good to hear it's not completely gone... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

My theory is that it simply doesn't sell well or have a big following outside the mainland USA. Here in Hawaii, Dr. Pepper recently disappeared from all the 7-11 convenience stores. That caught me by surprise...

On international flights people rarely order Dr. Pepper. Instead of stocking Dr. Pepper, we have additional Cokes.

You can get DIET Dr. Pepper? Now I am really ready for vacation!

Coke and Pepsi are stepping up their efforts to push Dr. Pepper and its brands (7up, etc) off store shelves and take its market. They are cutting deals with stores, rolling out agressive line extensions and leaning on bottlers that bottle Coke or Pepsi and Dr. Pepper products.

That is probably what happened at your local 7-11.

Dr. Pepper is responding by trying to recruit its own bottlers. We will see if Dr. Pepper can hold its own.

Soft drink companies are notorious for cutting better deals with those who exclusively pour their products. I wouldn't be surprised if Coke demanded that CO cut back on the Dr. Pepper.

Another factor could be overseas availability, although I believe that Dr. Pepper is currently sold in most markets CO serves.

Long live Dr. Pepper.

Dr. Pepper is definitely available in Europe although I havent quite figured out the distribution system there...when I was in the UK I was getting Dr. Pepper that had been bottled/canned in a few other countries, notably Slovakia...

My wife will no longer fly Continental if she discovers they no longer have DP. She paid $1US a can in Prague for her DP.
Living with a DP addict!

Well, it seems to be offically gone. Couldn't get it on four flights last weekend, SAN-EWR, EWR-DCA, DCA-IAH, and IAH-SAN. (One was CO Express.) It isn't listed in the magazine, either. :(

One of the FA's gave me some BS about it being a Pepsi product. Quite a travesty that such a fine Texas beverage isn't available on a Texas airline.

No more Dr. Pepper

On both international and domestic flights recently, the FA's told me Dr. Pepper was discontinued system-wide. :(

What about the Presidents Club?

If it's not in the inflight magazine, that's a pretty good sign. What about the Presidents Club?

Do other carriers, such as NW, serve Dr. Pepper?

I was in the DCA Pres club a week or two ago and witnessed the pouring of the last Diet 7up that the club had. I believe 7up is distributed by the same people as Dr Pepper. The bartender said something about a new beverage contract.
