How to Get Quick 15 OP Miles

My son has 24,985 miles in his OP account. He is concentrating his flight miles in his Worldperks account for status reasons. Any cheap/easy way to get 15 miles, so he can cash out with a free domestic flight? He is not old enough for a credit card, BTW.

He can buy the $5 e-book "Eat First - You Don't Know What They'll Give You. The Adventures of an Immigrant Family and Their Feminist Daughter." from the OfficeMax store accessed through the CO site. $5 x 3 miles per dollar = 15 miles.

Now that you'll have your 25000 miles, what makes you think Continental will bring the ball to the sandlot to play?

Standard award availability is a real myth at Continental.

Not wishing to burst your son's bubble, but this issue is a real pisser for all of us.

And, and by the way, we know you have a choice in carriers, thanks for flying Continental.

Thanks, that's perfect. I wasn't aware of the shopping program, which certainly makes it easy. And no shipping charge on ebooks, I suppose, even on a $5 order.

Last year, I was 11 miles short of a reward. The reward dept agent offered to sell me 1,000 miles for $25 (now $32 I think) but I called the service center dept and talked very nice to an agent who added the 11 miles as "goodwill". You might try that approach....if not successful, hang up and call back.

don't forget, you can always transfer to Amtrak & then to UA - I'm short about 308 miles to make it an even transfer, so I'll be eating at an i-dine meal and spending about 31 dollars on it next week!

It's so bad trying to get an standard US domestic award that I have planned my retirement from Gordo's program. I have already used up all my miles except 15,000. It won't take long to build it up to 25,000 and then clean it up for good.

You can redeem an award but I have to try for several trips and eventually one of them is successful. Each time I try for one trip, I am quite flexible except for not wanting a red eye.

Have U thought about sending that 15K to Amtrak, then onward to HHonors or UA?
I did it a few times & now I have a whopping http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif 11 CO miles without plans to earn more.
