Continental Micronesia

It is possible I may head out to Micronesia to do some fishing this winter. As there's almost no competition to a lot of those destinations, I want to ask if there are any unusual restrictions on mileage earned on Continental Micronesia flights.

No restrictions but upgrades are not an easy thing. If they clear they tend to clear very late. I hope you make it to Koror the Rock Islands are totally incredible. I also find the service on CO Mike far superior. The staff members are always very pleasant and professional. Have a great time.

Thanks for the info, coplat. Now let's see if that status match request is granted, and we can test out the upgrade theory!

I found upgrades on CO Micronesia to be quite easy to come by. Kwaj girl (OP Gold) and I (OP Plat) lived on Kwajalein for four years and we received free upgrades almost without fail on the KWA/HNL and HNL/KWA flights. In the past few months CO Micronesia was included in the automatic upgrade system (before that, you had to call the elite line and request your upgrade for CO Mic flights) and I had 100% luck in getting automatic upgrades.

Out of curiosity, how easy is it to do stopovers on an award ticket as you island hop? (there's five islands on the flight plan, right?)

One FREE stopover on the most direct route.

It's been easy for me to get island hopper rewards out of Honolulu rather than LA during the summer months. But in the offseason months for Hawaii, rewards from LA are easier.
I've had one operational upgrade to the Marshall islands, as the island hooper 737 was full.
The diving and exploring on all of the islands (Marshalls to Truk). There are lots of mantas. The fishing can be on/off. Those countries are unbelievably poor and they have been forced to take the money from the Korean and Japanese long line trawlers to empty the surrounding oceans and destroy the coral. And diving the WWII wrecks in the Truk Lagoon is truly a treat.

Thank you everyone for your ideas and thoughts.
