Yes. For all the above reasons.

I was looking into the IAH-ANC route last night, as it would get me way over the mark and heck I would be going to AK. How bearable is the flight in a 737? CO website says it 7 hours 20 min.

The offer appears to some when you log in to your onepass account and check for "news and offers." The thread is here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=461308

You can try putting in the promotion code manually or calling - but if it doesn't show up it probably won't work.

7 Hours on a 737 is probably only bearable if you're in F or an exit row... maybe a bulkhead depending on the specific model.

No, there are no elite upgrades on those flights either. There are some southam flights that are equipped with domestic first seating and these are eligible.

Like I said, the elite upgrades don't get you into any BF aircraft that leaves the mainland.

EUA applies to all South American flights except GRU/GIG. They used to have BF service to LIM, but no more.

I always find it's easier to specify the airplane that is flying the route. If it's a widebody, then no free EUA. 737/757 then it does. With the addition of the EZE route in the near future, it will expand widebody service as well.

Maybe, but they often operate widebodies EWR-Caribe in peak season (like AUA/SDQ/POP/SJU). I would expect EUA on these routes.

747's out of IAH

Does CO fly 747's to anywhere out of IAH anymore, I think its just 767's and 777's for transatlantic? I was just curious cause I've only gotten to fly on one once on the AF IAH-CDG route several years ago, which is now flown on a 777.

Thanks!

There are no CO 747s in service at all.

wow really? I noticed that seatguru.com didn't have a seat layout for them, but then I found some pictures of them so I knew they existed. Why are they all out of service?

Good to be back, it's been a while!

For me, Silver Elite has definitely been worth it. I finally requalified at the beginning of the summer and thus far have only missed upgrades on 2 of 11 flights. I'm not traveling enough to qualify for Gold, but with a few mileage runs it is realistic.

Some key points:

-As mentioned, the EliteAccess benefits make travel originating in the hubs less stressful, and downright easy elsewhere. The EA check in, security (where applicable), and boarding lanes are easily worth the effort and dollars to achieve status. The ground portion of the travel experience becomes 10x less stressful with EA.
-Priority seating ensures you a good seat to fall back on if you can't get the exit row at OLCI, and the DEF side of the narrowbody bulkheads are available to you.
-Automatic upgrades at the window are tough to come by, but diligence in checking in exactly 24h prior to departure (the OLCI window) will yield best results. Most times I select the "If First Class is available..." option and 75% of the time it processes my upgrade. Some strategic planning and flexibility is involved to give yourself the best shot, like selecting good flights/times/aircraft/routings, but the bottom is, at 6'3" 265lbs, I find myself sitting in First Class more often than not, and that is all I can ask for. I've even snagged 2-day automatic upgrades, but by no means is that the norm.

All in all, Silver Elite status is a good deal for the lower-end road warrior like myself. Someday soon I'd like to step up to Gold or even Plat, but right now Silver suits my needs quite effectively.

By the way, CO got rid of its 747-200Bs (older, less fuel-efficient) models more than five years ago. The new 747-400 series was deemed too large for CO's route structure, and was never ordered. The 777 is probably the biggest CO jet we will see in the next 20 years, but after that, who knows???

I have heard that this is true but cannot find it on the CO website. Can anyone show me where CO tells us they will grant you this benefit?

Thanks in advance.

It's here.

But there are ridiculous extra fees if you want to upgrade with a cheap fares (up to USD 450 - EACH WAY)... So bottom line, it's the same as other airlines restricting upgrades to their more expensive fare buckets (like NW/ KL etc.)

CO put the old 747-200's out of service maybe 7-8 years ago. The 747's used to fly to LGW and to NRT, maybe FRA. Originally they had three class of service - with F in the front nose section. These only had the small upstairs with the spiral staircase. They were not too reliable. Sometimes they would have an oil leak and have to shut down one of the four engines to LGW. But only delayed you about 1/2 hour at the slower speed.

CO picked the 747's up I believe from People's Express when Texas Air group bought People's Express. People's Express was responsible for the new Term C at EWR. That is why CO has a Hub at EWR.

My statement was correct (therefore, no correction necesary). I said "Pres Club" when I said that CO Elite status won't get you into the club. My statement is not incorrect because I limited it to President's Clubs and CO Elite Status.

You could however ADD that Elite Plus on ST will get you into some other partner's lounges.
