EUA chances on redeyes
since NW doesn't fly transcons, I haven't had any experience with this before.
I'm on the overnight SEA-EWR on Aug 11, and according to seatmap.com only 2 of 12 seats are gone so far...yet itn is showing F0 of course. What are peoples experiences with these overnight transcons? Do they frequently fill up with Y fares at the last minute, or do platinums stand a decent chance? |
It's not the same route, but maybe a similar situation:
I see you're flying a Monday night red-eye. This past Monday I was on the SNA-EWR red-eye, booked months in advance in T, with my Plat number. Checking the day before, FC was booked to about 6 of 12, but even when I checked in 40 min. before departure, the F seat still wouldn't clear. In the end, the agent said F would go out full, and it did: I think 3 upgrades at the gate including mine. So, that would point to about 3 likely Y to F fares booked the day of. So.... if F stays with only 2 of 12 booked, you'll likely get upgraded as a Plat, but don't expect it in advance. Good luck! [This message has been edited by Viajero Joven (edited 08-01-2003).] |
There is no "EUA chance on redeyes" in general, and on the SEA-EWR route in specific.
Doing this route quite frequently lately, I can say that on several days this flight can be wide open, and in some it can be full. I personally prefer the 4 PM flight that arrives in EWR at midnight. I found the upgrade cahnces on this one better, as well as getting a full dinner compared to the snack served on the red-eye. The best chance for an upgrade on the route is on the 10 AM flight, but it may vary according to the traffic in a specific day. |
I was upgraded on my last two red eyes- LAX-CLE and LAS-EWR. Both times upgrade inventory was open so I got my F seats by checking-in on CO.com
But in both instances even with F inventory available, I did not get any EUA notices http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif |

Better EUA chances (in my experience) and better in-flight service should you get stuck in Y. |
