EWR-OAK question
I remember seeing the previous analysis of how lousy one's chances of upgrading on the Bay Area transcons can be, but the EWR-OAK flight looked wide open in First when I booked a few days ago (CO1936 on 23JUL), so I gambled and booked the flight. The upgrade cleared 5 days out. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif
Anyway, other than alerting people to the fact that this flight doesn't seem to be on people's upgrade radar as much as the SFO flights, I was wondering what to expect service-wise on this flight. Is it the same schtick as a mid-con (like OAK-IAH), or do they step it up a bit? I've only flown transcons on AA. Thanks in advance... This is a well-known FT secret. EWR-OAK is much easier to clear than EWR-SFO.
It's transcon F service, exactly the same as EWR-SFO/LAX/etc. (printed menu, meal served in courses, sundaes, etc.). Enjoy! [This message has been edited by channa (edited 07-18-2003).] |
EWR to SFO/OAK
Usually 737, sometimes 757. In coach, I prefer the 737, but in F, the 757 has much better seats. |
I can't speak to the EWR-OAK flight (yet, although it looks like I might be a regular commuter for a few weeks on it soon), but I've done EWR-SJC (and SJC-EWR when it was offered as the redeye) and they have alweays been good for upgrades, and the service is what you'd expect -- printed menus and full dinner choices -- at least in February, that was true on the redeye SJC-EWR as well).
Enjoy! Steve |
Thanks! A transcon trip on a 737 isn't exactly my idea of a dream flight, but I am looking forward to the longer haul flight in First...all my flights to date on CO have been through IAH.
