MLU Service
(Monroe-AP) -- Continental Airlines will pull its jet service
from Monroe Regional Airport on November first, and Monroe is one of eight cities competing for replacement service from Sky West Airlines. Sky West Airlines would operate under the Continental Connection banner, but Sky West has only enough planes to serve four of the eight cities. Ken Talley, director of properties and facilities for Sky West, said the airline is seeking incentives, including cash, from prospective markets to offset start-up costs. Rod Washington, a city spokesman, said he will explore possible incentives. Continental is one of three commercial carriers serving Monroe Regional. The others are A-S-A Delta, the dominant carrier, and Northwest. If Sky West does bring service to Monroe, its aircraft will be 30-seat propeller planes. Continental serves the market with regional jets. |
Too bad. My in-laws live close to there and have used CO several times to connect through IAH. Guess they'll either go to SHV or fly NW or DL if this happens.
